Wilson Isidor (born 27 August 2000) is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for EFL Championship club Sunderland on loan from Russian Premier League club Zenit Saint Petersburg. [3]
On 11 November 2018, Isidor made his professional debut with Monaco in a 4–0 Ligue 1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain. [4] He subsequently had loan spells in Championnat National with Laval in the 2019–20 season and Bastia-Borgo in the 2020–21 season. [5] [6] In his time at Bastia-Borgo he was named Championnat National revelation of the season. [7]
On 22 January 2022, he signed a 4.5-year contract with Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow. [8] He scored at least once in each of his first 6 games in the Russian Premier League, repeating the record for most consecutive games with a goal at the start of the league career that was set a week prior to Isidor's sixth game by Yusuf Yazıcı. [9] He was selected player of the month for April 2022 by the Russian Premier League. [10]
On 30 January 2023, Lyon announced that Isidor failed their medical test due to persistent knee pain, which canceled his loan move to the club. [11]
Upon recovering from injury, Isidor finished the 2022–23 Russian Premier League season with 6 goals in the last 7 games, all after coming in as a second-half substitute.
On 9 September 2023, Isidor moved to Zenit Saint Petersburg on loan for the 2023–24 season. Zenit reported that the contract includes an option to buy, while Lokomotiv reported it as an obligation to buy. [12] [13] The transfer was officially made permanent on 5 July 2024. [14]
On 23 August 2024, Isidor joined EFL Championship club Sunderland on an initial season-long loan deal with the option to buy. [15]
Born in France, Isidor is of Haitian and Malagasy descent. [16] He was a youth international for France. [17]
