Woodcroft is a suburb [1] of Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands district of the county of Staffordshire, England. [2]
Originally, the area was occupied by a single large house named "Woodcroft". [3] It was built in 1893 by Henry George Carr, who owned a draper with shop in Leek town centre. [4] Carr would then later sell the house to Henry Davenport, who later extended the house after acquiring it. [5]
The house remained standing until 1935, when it was demolished and redeveloped for housing. [6]
Woodcroft is a predominantly residential area of Leek, it is home to the "Woodcroft Academy", [7] "Leek Bowling Club" and "St Edward's Church of England Academy". [8]
It also forms a small urban area with neighbouring Wallbridge Park and Westwood.
Woodcroft is served by regular bus services to Leek as well as to Ashbourne, Buxton, Hanley, Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent. [9]
