The Xiao Hui Wang Art Center was an art institute at Tongji University, Shanghai. Founded in 2003, it was administered by Professor Xiao Hui Wang, and was known for its numerous commissioned urban design projects and for being the first art institute in China to focus on new media art. The Center closed in 2015.

Design

Its design for the 2010 Shanghai Expo Urban Footprint Pavilion was chosen after international competition, and it worked with the Shanghai Museum, the sponsor and official organizer, to carry it out. [1]

Other projects included urban art projects for the cities of Langfang, Datong, Nantong, Suzhou and Zhuhai, artistic design work for the Nanjing World Trade Center, the Tianjin Innovation-China e•Group building, the Zendai Radisson Hotel in Shanghai and numerous designs and multimedia installations for Christofle, BMW MINI, J. P. Morgan, Audi, Van Cleef & Arpels and Sergio Rossi among others. [2] [3] [4]

Xu Daoning was a Chinese painter of the Northern Song Dynasty (960–1279) from Chang'an or Hejian. He started out life by selling medicine prescriptions in Kaifeng. While selling prescriptions, he also began painting nature scenes in the style of Li Cheng. After gaining popularity he took up painting murals for Chinese nobles. His most notable work is Fishermen's Evening Song.

ContainerArt was an itinerant public art event. The event used shipping containers to display works of contemporary art. Events have taken place in Italy and in some cities elsewhere. In Italy events have been held in Bergamo (2005) with 21 containers, Varese (2005) with 21 containers, Genoa (2007) with 24 containers, Rome (2007) with 14 containers, Milan (2008) with six containers, Turin (2008) with two containers, Casale Monferrato (2008) with four containers, and Genova (2008) in co-production with the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. The last named event, named "Ecosystems" included 26 containers spread around the port city, 14 of which formed part of the Kaohsiung Container Arts biennale and were shipped to Genoa directly from Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In the autumn of 2008 a simultaneous ContainerArt event in 4 cities was held under the name: "Beauty Inside Will Save the World" with four containers in Milan, four in Turin, four in Venice (Mestre) and one container in Tirana in Albania.

Liu Chuang (刘窗)) is a Chinese artist who currently lives and works in Beijing. He was born in 1979 and graduated from Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 2001. His work, "Buying Everything on You" was featured in The Generational: Younger Than Jesus exhibition that took place at the New Museum in 2009. The show was curated by Massimiliano Gioni. As part of an ongoing project, "Buying Everything on You" was also on view at Frieze New York 2013, and was presented by the Shanghai-based gallery Leo Xu Projects.

<i>The Golden Era</i> (film) 2014 Chinese film

The Golden Era is a 2014 Chinese-Hong Kong biographical drama film directed by Ann Hui, written and executive produced by Li Qiang and starring Tang Wei and Feng Shaofeng. Tang portrays Xiao Hong, while Feng plays Xiao Jun, two of the most important writers of 20th century China. Other notable characters portrayed include Lu Xun, Duanmu Hongliang and Ding Ling.
