Ye Qiaobo (born June 3,1964) is a Chinese speed skater. She was born in Changchun,Jilin. She competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics and in the 1994 Winter Olympics.
In the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary,Ye tested positive for steroids and was banned from international competition for 15 months. She maintained that she had followed the instructions of the team physician,but was nonetheless reviled in the Chinese press for bringing disgrace to her country and family. Officials later admitted that the team physician bore responsibility. [1]
In 1992,she competed against U.S. speed skater Bonnie Blair and won the silver medal in the 500 metres event with a time of 40.51. She also won a silver medal in the 1000 metres competition. Her silver in the 500m was the first medal for a Chinese athlete at the Winter Olympics. [1] Two years later she won the bronze medal in the 1000 metres contest and finished 13th in the 500 metres event. She was the winner for World Sprint Speed Skating Championships for Women in 1992 and 1993.
Lidiya Pavlovna Skoblikova is a retired Russian speed skater and coach. She represented the USSR Olympic team during the Olympic Winter Games in 1960,1964 and 1968,and won a total of six gold medals,a record she shares with Dutch speed skater Ireen Wüst. She also won 25 gold medals at the world championships and 15 gold medals at the USSR National Championships in several distances. She was also the first athlete to earn six gold medals in the Winter Olympics and the first to earn four gold medals at a single Olympic Winter Games. She was the most successful athlete at the 1960 and 1964 Winter Olympics,sharing the honour for 1960 Games with her compatriot Yevgeny Grishin.
Sylvie Daigle is a Canadian speed skater. She is a member of the Canadian short track relay team that won gold at the 1992 Winter Olympics and silver at the 1994 Winter Olympics. She is also a five-time Overall World Champion. She was born in Sherbrooke,Quebec.
Christa Luding-Rothenburger is a former speed skater and track cyclist. She was born in Weißwasser,East Germany. Luding is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games,and the first female to win a medal in both the Summer and Winter Games. She is the only athlete to win Winter and Summer Olympic medals in the same year (1988),a feat that is no longer possible due to the staggering of the Winter and Summer Olympic years. Speed skating at the 1992 Winter Olympics,was held from 9 to 20 February. Ten events were contested at L'anneau de vitesse. It was the last time in Winter Olympics in which speed skating events were contested in an outdoor ice rink.
Hong Kong,a special administrative region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China,sent a delegation to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin,Italy from 10 to 26 February 2006. The delegation competed under the formal name Hong Kong,China. This was the SAR's second appearance at a Winter Olympic Games,and the delegation consisted of a single athlete,short track speed skater Han Yueshuang. Entered in three events,her best performance was 18th in the women's 1,000 metres race.
Irene Karlijn "Ireen" Wüst is a Dutch former long track speed skater. Wüst became the most successful speed skating Olympian ever by achieving at least one gold medal in each of five consecutive Winter Olympic appearances. Wüst is the second athlete to win a gold medal at five consecutive Olympics,Summer or Winter,and the first to do so in individual events.
Christine Nesbitt is a Canadian retired long track speed skater who currently resides in Vancouver,British Columbia. She won the gold medal in the 1000 metres event at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. She had previously won a silver medal in the team pursuit at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She is also the 2011 sprint champion,2012 1500 metres world champion,three-time world champion for 1000 metres,and three-time world champion for team pursuit. After retiring from competitions she had a long career in law as a civil litigator.

After the 2006 Winter Olympic Games,she came back to China and became the head coach of Chinese national short track speed skating team. In 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games,her team won 6 gold,3 silver and 1 bronze medals in total. On May 16,2014,a press release provided by the Chinese Skating Association announced that "Li would remain as the head coach of the Chinese short track team until the Pyeongchang Games".

Jorien ter Mors is a retired Dutch speed skater on both short track and long track. She was the Olympic champion in the 1500 metres and team pursuit at the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 1000 metres at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Maryse Perreault is a former short track speed skater who competed on the Canadian speed skating team from 1981 to 1990. At the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships during these years,she won over twenty combined medals in individual races and the 3000 metres relay. In the overall World Championships classification,Perreault was the 1982 ladies champion and had a top three placing in 1983,1986 and 1989. Outside of the World Championships,Perreault won bronze at the 1988 Winter Olympics in the 3000 metres relay when short track speed skating was a demonstration sport. Perreault was named to the Speed Skating Canada Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1992.
