He was the grandson of Rabbi Yiḥyah Qafiḥ, a prominent Yemenite leader and founder of the Dor Deah movement in Yemen. Qafih was the recipient of many awards, as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Bar-Ilan University.

The Jewish Cemetery on the Mount of Olives is the oldest and most important Jewish cemetery in Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives has been a traditional Hebrew/Jewish burial location since antiquity, and the main present-day cemetery portion is approximately five centuries old, having been first leased from the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf in the sixteenth century. The cemetery contains anywhere between 70,000 and 150,000 tombs, including the tombs of famous figures in early modern Jewish history. It is considered to be the largest and holiest historical Jewish cemetery on earth.

Yosef Yaakov (Yoske) Sabatka (Hebrew: הרב יוסף יאסקי) was a Torah scholar, moralist and Kabbalist; he is often referred to as "Yosef Yoske of Dubno" . He was born in Lublin in 1659, son of the Av Beit Din and Kabbalist, Yehuda Yudel of Kovel. He was known for his piety, and served as Rabbi for the region of Minsk, and later, in 1698, became Av Beit Din of Dubno; he died there in 1702. Amongst his students is Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Kaidanover, author of Kav ha-Yashar.
