Further Explorations by the Horace Silver Quintet is an album by jazz pianist Horace Silver, released on the Blue Note label in 1958 and containing performances by Silver with Art Farmer, Clifford Jordan, Teddy Kotick, and Louis Hayes. The AllMusic review by Steve Leggett awards the album 4 stars and states: "Further Explorations is a solid, even striking outing, and if it isn't maybe quite as flashy as some of its predecessors, it is no less substantive and revealing."
Sonny Clark Quintets is an album by jazz pianist Sonny Clark, recorded for the Blue Note label, featuring performances by Clark with Clifford Jordan, Kenny Burrell, Paul Chambers, and Pete LaRoca and two with Art Farmer, Jackie McLean, and Philly Joe Jones replacing Jordan, Burrell and LaRoca. In 1957, Clark and his quintet recorded three pieces for a scheduled album : "Minor Meeting", "Eastern Incident" and "Little Sonny". Said album, however, never saw the light of the day in its complete form. Said tracks, in fact, would remain the only recorded material which could be used; not enough for an LP. So, Blue Note decided to put these tracks together with two compositions already featured on Cool Struttin' and title the project Sonny Clark Quintets, released only in Japan as LNJ 70093.

Art Farmer Quintet at Boomers is a live album by Art Farmer recorded in New York in 1976 and originally released on the Japanese East Wind label. A second volume of recordings was released in 2003 on the Test of Time label. This quintet also presages the later, great, 1980s quintet Art Farmer kept, in that it presents us the regal front line of Art Farmer together with Clifford Jordan, a pairing first recorded in the late fifties in Horace Silver's band, but then crystallized in several magnificent, and more feted, recordings in the 1980s – really a high-point in all of Farmer's remarkably consistent discography. But here we get to hear them together in the 1970s, too – and it is most edifying. They would go on to even more pristine heights together, refining their ensemble concept. Not that there's anything lacking in this lesser-known, but fabulous, document of one of jazz's truly great partnerships.
