Yuni is an internationally co-produced drama film, written and directed by Kamila Andini. It stars Arawinda Kirana in the title role.

Contents

The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2021, [2] where it was named the winner of the Platform Prize competition. [3] It was selected as the Indonesian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards. [4]

Plot

Yuni, a bright high school student, wants to attend university. She gains notoriety as she rejects a proposal by a man she barely knows. She rejects a second proposal, triggering concern relating to the local belief that if two proposals are rejected, a person will never marry. She finds her love for poetry as an escape from the reality. Until one day, her literature teacher comes to her house and becomes the third man to propose to her. [5]

Director Kamila Andini, along with producer Ifa Isfansyah and co-writer Prima Rusdi, had started working on Yuni in 2017. [6] The project had been selected by TorinoFilmLab for the 2018 Torino FeatureLab. [7]

Release

Yuni had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2021. [8] By the end of its run, the film will have screened at film festivals in Busan, [9] Vancouver, [10] Rome, [11] Brisbane, [12] Philadelphia [13] and Tokyo. [14] It is set to screen at the theatres in Indonesia on 9 December 2021. [15]

24 Hours with Gaspar is a 2023 crime drama film directed by Yosep Anggi Noen, based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Sabda Armandio. The 2022 Jakarta Film Week, the second edition of the film festival Jakarta Film Week, was held on 13 to 16 October 2022. The festival opened with Fajar Nugros' The Ballads of Roy, and closed with Sorayos Prapapan's film Arnold Is a Model Student.

The 16th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival was held on 27 November to 4 December 2021 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The festival returned to be held offline at the Empire XXI, after a year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The festival partnered with streaming service KlikFilm for online screenings.
