Release

The Seen and Unseen had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017, competing for the Platform Prize. [1] The film received lively applause from the audience during the world premiere. [2] The film had its Asian premiere at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival during the program, A Window on Asian Cinema. [3] The film was also screened at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival during the Generation program as its European premiere. [4]

The film was theatrically released nationwide on 8 March 2018. [5]

Reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 100% of eight critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 9.3/10. [6]

Elizabeth Kerr of The Hollywood Reporter praised Andini's interpretation of child trauma and called the film "a quietly powerful portrait of childhood grief". [7] Maggie Lee of Variety described the film as a "haunting and hypnotic interpretation of the child subconscious rooted in Balinese arts and culture". [8]

Before, Now & Then is a 2022 Indonesian period drama film, written and directed by Kamila Andini. It stars Happy Salma as Nana, a woman who is impacted by violent times in rural Indonesia during 1940s to 1960s. The film is adapted from the first chapter of the novel Jais Darga Namaku by Ahda Imran, telling the true story of Raden Nana Sunani, a woman who lived in the 1960s West Java.

<i>Autobiography</i> (film) 2022 film

Autobiography is a 2022 thriller drama film written and directed by Makbul Mubarak in his directorial debut. It stars Kevin Ardilova and Arswendy Bening Swara. The film had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival during the Horizons program on September 2, 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in sections other than the main competition. Autobiography won the sole award in Best Original Screenplay category among other seven nominations at the 2022 Indonesian Film Festival. The film was selected as the Indonesian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

Sara is a 2023 drama film directed and written by Ismail Basbeth. The film stars Asha Smara Darra in the titular role and Christine Hakim as her mother.

The 2022 Jakarta Film Week, the second edition of the film festival Jakarta Film Week, was held on 13 to 16 October 2022. The festival opened with Fajar Nugros' The Ballads of Roy, and closed with Sorayos Prapapan's film Arnold Is a Model Student.
