Zaman Akhter (born 12 March 1999) is an English cricketer who plays for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and was the 6th graduate of the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) to sign a professional contract. He is a right-handed batsman and right arm medium pace bowler. He made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire on 18 May 2023,against Durham. Akhter has also played for England Lions.
Akhter made his first-class cricket debut for the Oxford UCCE scheme (Oxford Brookes University and University of Oxford) against Middlesex in March 2019. [1] He later played minor counties cricket for Cambridge, [2] and Hertfordshire. [3] He played for Essex Second-XI towards the end of the 2022 season. [4]
Akhter played at South Asia Cricket Academy prior to signing for Gloucestershire in March 2023. [5] Gloucestershire coach Dale Benkenstein described him as having a “natural action”. He made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire on 18 May 2023 against Durham. [6] [7] In his third first-class match,on 13 June 2023,he impressed by taking 4-33 from 17 overs against Leicestershire. [8] He signed a new one-year contract with the club in November 2023. [9] [10]
He took his first five-wicket haul for Gloucestershire on the opening day of the 2024 County Championship,finishing with figures of 5/89 against Yorkshire at Bristol on 12 April 2024. [11] In August 2024,he signed a contract extension with the county. [12]
Akhter was named in the England Lions squad for a four-day match against Sri Lanka at New Road,Worcester in August 2024. [13] [14] He took five wickets for 32 runs off 11.5 overs in the tourists' first innings. [15] [16] [17]
Courtney Andrew Walsh OJ is a Jamaican former cricketer who represented the West Indies from 1984 to 2001,captaining the West Indies in 22 Test matches. He is a fast bowler and considered one of the all-time greats,best known for a remarkable opening bowling partnership along with fellow West Indian Curtly Ambrose for several years. Walsh played 132 Tests and 205 ODIs for the West Indies and took 519 and 227 wickets respectively. He shared 421 Test wickets with Ambrose in 49 matches. He held the record of most Test wickets from 2000,after he broke the record of Kapil Dev. This record was later broken in 2004 by Shane Warne. He was the first bowler to reach 500 wickets in Test cricket. His autobiography is entitled "Heart of the Lion". Walsh was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1987. In October 2010,he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He was appointed as the Specialist Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team in August 2016.
Dale Martin Benkenstein is a South African former cricketer who was an all-rounder. He is currently first-team coach at Lancashire,having previously held the same role at Gloucestershire. Benkenstein was a member of the South Africa team that won the 1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy,the only ICC trophy the country has won till date.
David Valentine Lawrence is an English retired cricketer,who mainly played for Gloucestershire and briefly featured for England. He picked up 625 wickets in 280 matches for Gloucestershire,where he appeared in a bowling attack alongside Courtney Walsh and Kevin Curran. Lawrence later suffered a severe knee injury,on international duty,which curtailed his playing days. As of now he serves as the first black president of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
Claude William Henderson is a South African former cricketer who bowled left-arm spin and played in seven Test matches and four One Day Internationals in 2001 to 2002.
James Kerr Fuller is a South African born New Zealand professional cricketer,who has also played for the England Lions cricket team. Having played for Otago and Auckland in New Zealand domestic cricket,Fuller played for Gloucestershire (2011-2015) and Middlesex (2016-2018). He signed a two-year contract with Hampshire on 4 October 2018.

Kerrigan signed for Lancashire in September 2008,and made his debut for the first team in 2010,filling in for Gary Keedy,Lancashire's senior spinner. In August 2011,Kerrigan was selected for the England Lions for the first time. Hasan Ali is a Pakistani cricketer who plays for the national team in all formats. He made his first-class debut for Sialkot in October 2013. He made his international debut for Pakistan in August 2016 in a One Day International (ODI) match against Ireland. The following summer,he was named in Pakistan's squad for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan went on to win the tournament with Ali named player of the tournament after taking thirteen wickets,and took the final wicket of Jasprit Bumrah. He became the quickest bowler for Pakistan to take 50 wickets in ODIs. In August 2018,he was one of thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
