James Alexander Porter (born 25 May 1993) is an English cricketer who has played first-class cricket for Essex since 2014. [1] He is a righthanded batsman who bowls right arm medium-fast pace. [2] [3]
In the 2011–12 season,Porter attended the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy and played club cricket for the West Torrens District Cricket Club in Adelaide. [4] [5] In 2013,Porter was included in the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Cricketers squad –he was already a member of the Essex Second XI. [6] At the time,he was a part-time cricketer,and also worked as a recruitment consultant. [7] [8] He played club cricket for Fives &Heronians club in Chigwell,before moving to Chingford cricket club,taking 33 wickets at an average of 13 in the 2014 season,as Chingford took their maiden Essex Premier League title. [9] He made his senior Essex debut in September 2014, [10] [11] taking the wicket of Darren Stevens with his fifth delivery in first-class cricket. [12] He also became the first player to represent a county team and Chingford since Robin Hobbs in 1961. [9] At the end of the 2014 season,Porter signed a new Essex contract until 2016. [13]
He played his first full season for Essex in the 2015 season,taking 38 wickets in the first 10 County Championship matches. [14] Essex head coach Paul Grayson called Porter refreshing,and said that "He's a good character and he's a very good bowler. He's lively medium,he does something with the ball and he asks lots of questions of batsmen." [12] In a tour match against an Australian team,Porter took 3 wickets in the second innings,dismissing David Warner,Peter Siddle and Nathan Lyon; [15] [16] before the match,Porter had stated that he wanted to dismiss Warner. [14]
He made his Twenty20 debut for Essex in the 2017 NatWest t20 Blast on 7 July 2017. [17]
In April 2018 he was named one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year for his contribution to the Essex team that won the 2017 County Championship [18]
In July 2018,he was named in England's Test squad for the first Test against India, [19] but he was not selected for the match. [20]
Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara is a Sri Lankan former professional cricketer who represented Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2015. A former captain in all formats. He was born in Matale,Central Province. In first-class cricket,he played for Nondescripts Cricket Club from 1997–98 to 2013–14 and for Surrey County Cricket Club from 2015 to 2017. Sangakkara is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. He was a key part of the Sri Lankan squads which won the 2001-02 Asian Test Championship,2002 ICC Champions Trophy and 2014 T20 World Cup.

The Wisden Trophy was awarded to the winner of the Test cricket series played between England and the West Indies. It was first awarded in 1963 to commemorate the hundredth edition of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. Darren Ian Stevens is an English former professional cricketer who played for Leicestershire and Kent County Cricket Clubs between 1997 and 2022. An all-rounder,he played as right-handed batsman and bowled right-arm medium-pace deliveries. He scored over 16,000 first-class runs and after the age of 35 took more than 500 wickets and more than 30 five-wicket hauls. Stevens was named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in the 2021 edition of the almanack.

In April 2022,Shrubsole announced her retirement from international cricket. In June 2023,she announced her intention to retire from all forms of cricket after the 2023 season of The Hundred.

In 2016,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest t20 Blast. The season was the fifth,and last,in charge for head coach Jimmy Adams and the first for new club captain Sam Northeast,who took over from Rob Key at the end of the 2015 season,having captained the side on the field for much of the season.

Samuel James Cook is an English cricketer. He made his first-class debut on 31 March 2016 for Loughborough MCCU against Surrey as part of the Marylebone Cricket Club University fixtures. He played for Essex against the West Indies during their tour of England in August 2017. He was part of the 2017 County Championship winning Essex squad.

The 2020 Bob Willis Trophy was a first-class cricket tournament held in the 2020 English cricket season,and the inaugural edition of the Bob Willis Trophy. It was separate from the County Championship,which was not held in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The eighteen county cricket teams were split into three regional groups of six,with the two group winners with the most points advancing to a final held at Lord's. The maximum number of overs bowled in a day was reduced from 96 to 90,and the team's first innings could be no longer than 120 overs.
