Zoureena Saviera Nazrul Rijger (born in Paramaribo, Suriname, on June 19, 1991) is a Surinamese singer and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Suriname 2009.
Zoureena is the daughter of well-known Surinamese country singer Lex Rijger and his wife Nisa Rijger. Lex performed with his daughters Cheryll, Zoureena, and Xaviera in a group called Lex Rijger and Family. The girls also sing on their own as the group The Rijger Sisters. At the Surinamese song festival Suripop 2008, they performed the song A Song of Life, written by their father. [1]
On August 28, 2009, Rijger was crowned Miss Suriname 2009 at the Marriott Hotel Suriname. On November 10, 2009, Rijger travelled to South Africa to take part in the Miss World 2009 beauty pageant, which took place on December 12, 2009. [2]

The SVB Eerste Divisie is the second highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June of the next year, with teams playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was known as the Hoofdklasse but became Topklasse beginning with the 2016–17 season, and then from the 2017–18 season forward, the Eerste Divisie. In 2024 the SVB introduced a new professional competition while the Eerste Divisie will serve as the nations top amateur competition.
Suriname participated in the Olympic Games for the first time at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy, before becoming independent of the Netherlands. The games were held from 25 August to 11 September 1960. The nation sent a delegation of three people: two officials, attaché Lia Del Neri and secretary-general Freddy Glans, and one athlete, runner Wim Esajas, who was set to compete in the men's 800 metres. The national football and basketball teams failed to qualify. Esajas did not participate; he arrived late and missed his heat after being given wrong information by Glans.

Miss World 2013, the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 28 September 2013 at Bali International Convention Center, South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. It was the first time in Southeast Asia and it also was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in a Muslim majority country. Contestants from 127 countries and territories competed in this year's Miss World pageant, marking the biggest turnout for any beauty pageant globally as of 2024. Yu Wenxia of China crowned her successor Megan Young of the Philippines at the end of the event, marking the only time to date that the Philippines has won the Miss World title. This victory also made the Philippines the third country to win all of the Big Four international beauty pageants.

Miss Grand Suriname is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Suriname representatives competing at the Miss Grand International contest. From 2014 to 2016 the right to send Surinamese candidates to compete at the mentioned international stage belonged to the national pageant of Miss Tropical Beauties Suriname, which is headed by Gietanjali Thakoer. Miss Grand Suriname title was first awarded in 2014 to the winner of Miss Tropical Beauties Suriname, Tashana Losche, who then competed at Miss Grand International 2014 in Thailand, but was unplaced.
