The Inkatha Freedom Party is a conservative political party in South Africa, which is a part of the current South African government of national unity together with the African National Congress (ANC). Although registered as a national party, it has had only minor electoral success outside its home province of KwaZulu-Natal. Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who served as chief minister of KwaZulu during the Apartheid period, founded the party in 1975 and led it until 2019. He was succeeded as party president in 2019 by Velenkosini Hlabisa.
Nkandla is a town in the uThungulu district of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is the seat of the Nkandla Local Municipality, and the district in which the residence of the former President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, is located. The residence is located 40 kilometres to the south of the town of Nkandla, beyond the Nkandla Forest and on the road to Kranskop.
Miss South Africa is a national beauty pageant in South Africa that selects South African representatives to compete in one of the Big Four international beauty pageants Miss Universe, and also selects another representative to participate in Sub-major international pageant Miss Supranational. The Miss South Africa organisation resorted to a contemporary format in selecting representatives which was inaugurated in 2018. Following their newer method, both a Miss World South Africa and a Miss Universe South Africa were selected as representatives. From 2021 onwards, the winner of Miss South Africa will be competing in Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational. The current Miss South Africa 2023 is Natasha Joubert. On May 11, 2023, the Miss South Africa Organisation has lost its license as a Miss World licensee holder to Carol Bouwer Productions, which has taken over the license of Miss World South Africa pageant.
Miss South Africa 2009 was held on 13 December 2009 in Sun City, South Africa. The winner represented South Africa at Miss Universe 2010 and Miss World 2010. Twelve contestants competed for the crown. Nicole Flint was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Tatum Keshwar from Durban.

Bhekokwakhe "Bheki" Hamilton Cele was the South African Minister of Police from February 2018 to 17 June 2024. He was National Commissioner of the South African Police Service for two years, until misconduct allegations led to his suspension in October 2011 and removal in June 2012. He has also served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, on the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council, and in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature. He is a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress, and was imprisoned on Robben Island during apartheid.
The KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court of South Africa is a superior court of law with general jurisdiction over the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The main seat of the division is at Pietermaritzburg, while a subordinate local seat at Durban has concurrent jurisdiction over the coastal region of the province. As of January 2024 the Judge President of the division is Thoba Poyo-Dlwati.

The 2021 South African unrest, also known as the July 2021 riots, the Zuma unrest or Zuma riots, was a wave of civil unrest that occurred in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces from 9 to 18 July 2021, sparked by the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma for contempt of court. Resulting protests against the incarceration triggered wider rioting and looting, much of it said to be undertaken by people not in support of Zuma and fuelled by job layoffs and economic inequality worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic policies. The unrest began in the province of KwaZulu-Natal on the evening of 9 July, and spread to the province of Gauteng on the evening of 11 July, and was the worst violence that South Africa had experienced since the end of Apartheid.

Miss South Africa 2022, the 64th edition of the Miss South Africa pageant was held on Saturday, August 14 , 2022, at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria. Incumbent winner, Lalela Mswane of KwaZulu-Natal crowned Ndavi Nokeri of Limpopo as her successor. Nokeri will go on to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2022 where she placed as Top 16.
Miss Grand South Africa 2016 was the second edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on August 6, 2016, at the Atterbury Theatre, Pretoria. Seven candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via an online screening performed earlier in April, competed for the title, and a professional model from the province of Limpopo, Caitlin Harty, was elected the winner, while the Mpumalanga representative, Precious Khoza, and the Gauteng representative, Thando Tsiane, were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Harty then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2016 pageant held in Las Vegas, United States, on October 25, but was unplaced.
