Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi is the former Minister of Health in Brunei from 2015 until 2017 and a Vice-Chancellor at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) from 2008 to 2015. [2] [3]
Zulkarnain went for his higher education in the United Kingdom. He obtained his MBChB from the University of Liverpool and later the FRCSEd (Otolaryngology) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Lastly, FRCGP (Hon) from the Royal College of General Practitioners. [4]
Hanafi is a Head and Neck Surgeon and otolaryngologist, who in 2001 was involved in the first Cochlear Implant Surgery on a child in Borneo at, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital. [5]
On 22 October 2015, Hanafi was sworn in as the Minister of Health. [6] For the 2017–18 fiscal year, Zulkarnain's Ministry has been given a budget allocation of B$323.88 million, including B$7,766,900 for development expenses. [7] Hanafi praised the encouraging growth of economic prospects and avenues in the health sector, saying they should be investigated to advance more healthy concepts and advance Brunei's health agenda on 19 November 2017. [8] His tenure concluded after two years, when Hassanal Bolkiah declared his approval for the nomination of Isham Jaafar on 1 December 2017. [9]

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA or MoRA; Malay: Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama, KHEU) is a cabinet-level ministry in the government of Brunei which is responsible for the propagation of Islam and its upholding as the state religion, as well as oversees the Islamic religious education in the country. It is currently led by a minister and a deputy minister, whereby the incumbents are Badaruddin Othman and Pengiran Mohammad Tashim respectively. The ministry is headquartered in Bandar Seri Begawan.
Pengiran Anak Mohamed Alam was a nobleman, magistrate, and politician who served as the fourth Speaker of the Legislative Council from 1971 to 1974, and as the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara from 1954 to 1981. A member of the Bruneian royal family, he was the father of Pengiran Anak Saleha, the queen consort of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. He was also the maternal grandfather of Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince of Brunei.
Pengiran Muhammad Yusuf bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahim, pen name Yura Halim, was a Bruneian nobleman, politician, civil servant, diplomat, and writer. He served as the Menteri Besar of Brunei from 1967 to 1972. He wrote the lyrics for Brunei's national anthem, "Allah Peliharakan Sultan," in 1947. The song was adopted as the country's official national anthem in 1951, when it was still a British protectorate. He was longtime member of the Legislative Council of Brunei, serving on the council until his death in 2016.
Adanan bin Haji Mohd Yusuf or sometimes referred to as Pehin Dato Adanan, is a Bruneian aristocrat and politician who served as Minister of Home Affairs (MOHA) from 2005 to 2010, and as Minister of Health from 2010 to 2015, and a current member of the Brunei Legislative Council.
