Government Medical College, Kozhikode, [1] also known as Calicut Medical College, is a public medical college in Kozhikode, in the Indian state of Kerala.
The medical college was established in 1957 as the second medical college in Kerala by Dr. A. R. Menon MBBS, FRCH, Minister for Health, EMS ministry. With over 3025 beds, it is currently the largest hospital in India and tenth largest in the world. [2] [3] It is also one of India's largest hospitals by area, covering more than 270 acres of land in the outskirts of Kozhikode city. Formerly affiliated to the University of Calicut, the college is now attached to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS).

The Institute of Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) is a 1100 bed [7] tertiary care center dedicated to maternal and child health care. [8] The Institute of Maternal and Child Health of Medical College is a regional diagnostic centre for Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders. [9] This collaborative centre provides clinical care [10] as well as genetic diagnosis for patients with Primary immunodeficiency disorders. [11] This collaborative centre is part of the Genomics for Understanding Rare Diseases India Alliance Network (GUaRDIAN) Initiative. [12]
The Institute of Palliative Medicine (IPM) is a WHO collaborative centre for Community participation in Palliative Care and Long term Care [13] It was initially set up in 1993, as a pain relief clinic for terminal cancer patients, run by Dr M. R. Rajagopal and Dr Suresh Kumar. Today, it is the nodal institution for palliative care in Kerala, providing training to doctors, nurses and volunteers. Since the vast majority of India's palliative care sites - 841 out of 908 - are located in Kerala, the Institute of Palliative Medicine leads the largest palliative care network in India. [14]
The Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) is an autonomous institute under the government of Kerala. [15]
This was established in 1903 by Raja Sir Savalai Ramaswamy Mudaliar and was handed over to the Government on 22 September 1903 [16]
The Calicut Medical College Alumni Association was established in 2003. The association publishes the Calicut Medical Journal, an online open access medical journal. The founding editor-in-chief was P.V. Ramachandran, and the current editor is Varghese Thomas. The journal is indexed by CAB International. Kozhikode International Airport also known as Calicut International Airport is an international airport serving the city of Malappuram and Kozhikode in the state of Kerala, India. It is located at Karipur near Kondotty in the Malappuram district of the South Malabar region. It serves the Malabar region, consisting of Malappuram, Wayanad and Palakkad. It is situated 28 km (17 mi) away from Kozhikode and 25 km (16 mi) away from Malappuram. The Institute of Palliative Medicine is an education, training and research centre for palliative care located in Kozhikode, India. The institute trains health care professionals in palliative care and related medical disciplines. Through its connection with Calicut Medical College and other clinics in the state of Kerala, the institute supports between 4,500 and 5,000 patients per week. This institute is an organ of Pain and Palliative Care Society, Medical College, Calicut, which was founded in 1993.
Viswanathan Shanta was an Indian oncologist and the chairperson of Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai. She is best known for her efforts towards making quality and affordable cancer treatment accessible to all patients in her country. She dedicated herself to the mission of organizing care for cancer patients, study of the disease, research on its prevention and cure, spreading awareness about the disease, and developing specialists and scientists in various subspecialties of oncology. Her work won her several awards, including the Magsaysay Award, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award given by the Government of India.

Palakkad, also known as Palghat, historically known as Palakkattussery, is a city and municipality in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the administrative headquarters of Palakkad District. Palakkad is the most densely populated municipality and the fourth-most densely populated city in the state. It was established before Indian independence under British rule and known by the name Palghat.
