Thiruvananthapuram, commonly known by its former name Trivandrum, is the capital of the Indian state of Kerala. It is the most populous city in Kerala with a population of 957,730 as of 2011. The encompassing urban agglomeration population is around 1.68 million. Government Medical College, Kozhikode also known as Calicut medical College or C.M.C is a premier school of medicine in Kozhikode in the Indian state of Kerala. It was established in 1957 as the second medical college in Kerala. Since then the institution has grown into a premier Centre of medical education in the state. The University Grants Commission of India is a statutory body set up by the Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 under Ministry of Education, and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education. Anil Kohli is an Indian dental surgeon, medical administrator and a former president of the Dental Council of India. He is an elected fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds the honorary rank of 'Brigadier' in the Army Dental Corps. He is a recipient of B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honor of the Padma Shri in 1992 and followed it up with the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2005, for his contributions to medicine, making him the first dentist to receive both the honors.
Sajeev Koshy is an Indian-born specialist endodontist currently residing in Australia. He is a public dentist, clinical director and a social advocate. He is a recipient of The Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
