Nicktoons (sometimes called Nicktoons Global) is a European international pay television network operated by Paramount Networks EMEAA. Launched on February 1, 2017, international version of the American TV channel Nicktoons, the network serves many of the countries in the European Union, and features several feeds differentiated by time zones and local languages being the primary audio feed offered, with other languages offered through second audio program options. Other networks may display the domestic language as open-access subtitles.

History

The channel launched in Poland on February 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. (polish time), replacing Nickelodeon HD. [1]

On December 12, 2018 Nicktoons launched in Russia, [2] then in Hungary and Romania on April 1, 2019, [3] in Bulgaria on June 5, 2019, [4] in Czech Republic on October 30, 2019, [5] in Ukraine on January 22, 2020, and in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Albania on July 14, 2020. [6]

The channel closed in Russia on April 28, 2022 [7] and in Belarus on December 14, 2022 because of the Ukraine war. [8]

On April 1, 2023, Nicktoons launched 3 new feeds in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, a month before Latvia changed the law on language possibilities, unlike Estonian and Lithuanian, content in Latvian uses is also provided with translation with the help of artificial intelligence, mostly at night. The channel is available on subscription services and as an unscrambled, free-to-air (FTA) satellite signal. On 31 March 2010, the channel re-adopted the name Nickelodeon on air and online, in addition to the new Nickelodeon logo and graphical package being rolled out internationally at the time. Paramount International Networks (PIN) is the international sibling division of Paramount Global’s Paramount Media Networks subsidiary. The division oversees the production, broadcasting and promotion of key Paramount brands outside of the United States. The channel is aimed at pre-school children, Similar to the French version of the channel is known as “Nickelodeon Junior” in promos but still uses the shortened logo used on other feeds. Until 2011, it was the last remaining Nick Jr. to retain the 2D-3D animated pop-up-book-style ident package that was used from 2005 to 2010 internationally.

Nickelodeon Group, also known as Nickelodeon Networks Inc., is an American children's entertainment company and a sub-division of the Paramount Media Networks division of Paramount Global that oversees cable television channels, including its flagship service Nickelodeon, its in-house animation studio and Paws, Inc.
