Thane district is a district in the Indian state of Maharashtra in Konkan Division. At the 2011 Census it was the most populated district in the nation, with 11,060,148 inhabitants; however, in August 2014 the district was split into two with the creation of a new Palghar district, leaving the reduced Thane district with a 2011 Census population of 8,070,032. The headquarters of the district is the city of Thane. Other major cities in the district are Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Mira-Bhayander, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath, Badlapur, Murbad and Shahapur.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a 87 km2 (34 sq mi) protected area in Mumbai, Maharashtra State in India. It was established in 1996 with headquarters at Borivali. It is notable as one of the major national parks existing within a metropolis limit and is one of the most visited parks in the world.
Salsette Island is an island in the state of Maharashtra on India's west coast. The metropolis of Mumbai and the cities of Thane and Mira-Bhayander lie on it, making it very populous and one of the most densely populated islands in the world. Aarey Forest is a rich urban forest which is within the eco sensitive zone of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). It is classified as mixed moist deciduous type forest. It acts as a buffer between SGNP and the city, being one of the few green spaces left in Mumbai. On 3rd September 2020, the Maharashtra government declared one fifth of the Aarey Colony, an area of approximately 600 acres, as a reserved forest.
The Mithi River is a river on Salsette Island, the island of the city of Mumbai, India. It is a confluence of tail-water discharges of the Powai and Vihar lakes. The river is seasonal and rises during the monsoons. The overflowing lakes also contribute to the river flow, which is stopped by a dam at other times. During this season, the gutter is a favourite with anglers, who can catch large fish that have escaped from the lakes. Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is located right next to the section of RIVER at Andheri.

The district along with Mumbai City district and other suburban localities make up Greater Mumbai on Salsette Island. The district occupies an area of 446 km².
Madh Island is a group of several quaint fishing villages and farmlands in northern Mumbai.
Oshiwara is a neighbourhood in northern Mumbai, India near Lokhandwala Complex. Its name was derived from the Oshiwara River. Located between the western sides of Goregaon and Jogeshwari, it has many industrial estates. A railway station was built at Oshiwara, called Ram Mandir, for the Western Line of Mumbai Suburban Railway, providing service to the extended Andheri and Lokhandwala areas of the western suburbs. Oshiwara is also known for its antique and second-hand furniture market.
Malad Creek or Marve Creek is a creek in north-west Mumbai. Located west of Malad, the Oshiwara River drains into it. To the west is Madh Island, and to the east lies Versova. Earlier it was surrounded by a 1,000-acre (4.0 km2) area of mangroves. But now this area has shrunk to 400 acres (1.6 km2) as the real estate prices in Malad went up. Malad creek is 5 km in length.
Dahisar River is a river on Salsette island that runs through Dahisar, a suburb of Mumbai, India. It originates in the Tulsi Lake in Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the northern reaches of the city. The River flows roughly North-West for a total of 12 kilometres through the localities of the National Park, Sri Krishna Nagar, Daulatnagar, Leprosy Colony, Kandar Pada, Sanjay Nagar, and Dahisar Gaothan before meeting the Arabian sea via the Manori Creek. Its total Catchment area is 3488 hectares.

The Jogeshwari – Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR), is a 10.6-kilometre-long (6.6 mi) 6-lane road with a central median in Mumbai which connects the Western Express Highway and Eastern Express Highway providing speedier access from Jogeshwari in the Western Suburbs to Vikhroli in the Eastern Suburbs. It was opened to traffic in 1994, and widened from 2-lane to 6-lane road in 2012 at a cost of ₹221.45 crore.
Vanashakti is a non-profit environmental NGO based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was formed in 2006, by Meenakshi Menon, Namita Roy Ghose, and Peter Armand Menon. Vanashakti aims to conserve the forests, wetlands, wildlife corridors, habitats, through education and litigation to achieve its objectives of creating awareness about environmental topics, protecting and reviving rivers and preventing opencast mining in areas that are well-endowed with biodiversity. It also directs its efforts in involving local forest-dwelling communities to protect the biodiversity of the region and provides sustainable livelihood options for forest dependent and coastal communities. Vanashakti's thrust areas are forest, mangrove and wetland protection, environmental education for both urban and rural schools, livelihoods for forest based communities and scientific investigation into local environmental degradation.
The Aqua Line 3 of the Mumbai Metro, also known as Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Line, is a part of the metro system under construction in Mumbai, India. When completed, the 33.5-km long line will be the first underground metro line in Mumbai and will be operated by MMRC. The metro line will connect Cuffe Parade business district in the extreme south of the city to SEEPZ in the north-central with 26 underground and one at-grade station. The track width is standard gauge. The cost of this corridor is estimated at ₹30,000 crore (US$4.2 billion). Line 3 is expected to reduce road congestion, besides reducing the load on the Western Line between Bandra and Churchgate.
The Yellow Line 2 of the Mumbai Metro is an under construction metro line in the city of Mumbai connecting Dahisar in the northwest with Mandale in Mankhurd in the east. The First Phase of the line is set to open in October 2021 from Dahanukar Wadi to Dahisar East connecting to Red Line & the entire stretch is set to open by January 2022.
Ram Mandir railway station is a railway station on the Western and Harbour lines of the Mumbai Suburban Railway, serving the Oshiwara locality. The station is located in between Jogeshwari railway station and Goregaon railway station and is named after the century-old temple of Lord Ram in its vicinity. The station was opened to commuters on 22 December 2016.
Dara Nusserwanji Khurody was an Indian entrepreneur known for his contributions to the dairy industry of India. He worked in various private and government organization at the start of his career and also held government official positions later on. He was the Milk Commissioner of Bombay from 1946 to 1952. His name was considered "synonymous with dairying" in India in the 1950s. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award jointly with Verghese Kurien and Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel in 1963 and the Padma Bhushan from the Government of India in 1964.
Infiniti Mall is a chain of shopping malls in India. It is a subsidiary of K. Raheja Constructions, which has been in the business of construction and property development since the 1960s. The first Infiniti Mall opened in 2004, in Andheri, Mumbai. This is the third oldest shopping mall in Mumbai. Infiniti Mall launched their second property in Mumbai, at Malad, in May 2011.
