The Corydon Historic District is a national historic district located in Corydon, Indiana, United States. The town of Corydon is also known as Indiana's First State Capital and as Historic Corydon. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, but the listing was amended in 1988 to expand the district's geographical boundaries and include additional sites. The district includes numerous historical structures, most notably the Old Capitol, the Old Treasury Building, Governor Hendricks' Headquarters, the Constitution Elm Memorial, the Posey House, the Kintner-McGrain House, and The Kintner House Inn, as well as other residential and commercial sites.
Linden Depot is a historic train station located at Linden, Montgomery County, Indiana. In 1852 the New Albany and Salem Railroad Railroad cut through Montgomery County, Indiana. The old stage road between Crawfordsville and Linden was given to the railroad as an inducement to get them to build through Linden. 1852 also saw the building of the first Linden depot, on a site behind the present day Post Office. The building was moved to the current location in 1881 when the Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad was built through Linden, crossing the Monon at this location.
The Warsaw Courthouse Square Historic District is a historic district in Warsaw, Indiana that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Its boundaries were increased in 1993.
The bridge is significant locally as the only Pratt through truss bridge remaining in Kosciusko County, and is important regionally as one of the few surviving spans built by the Bellefontaine Bridge and Iron Company.
The first jail was built in 1837 of 14 inches (36 cm) square logs. It was two stories tall with a trap door from the second story floor to access the ground floor. The next jail was made of brick. Like the first jail, it was located on Courthouse Square. By 1869 this second structure was in serious need of repair. Frequent jail breaks from the second jail, led the county to hire George Garnsey of Chicago to design a new jail. The most notable jailbreak resulted when prisoners pushed bricks out of the wall.
The Winona Lake Historic District is located along the Eastern shore of Winona Lake in Kosciusko County, Indiana. Historically, it is perhaps best known as a major center within the evangelical Bible Conference Movement during the first half of the twentieth century, though these gatherings were just one part of the larger history of the town of Winona Lake, an area which has been a Chautauqua site, resort spot, and conference center. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Kosciusko County, Indiana, since 1993.
Brown County Courthouse Historic District is a historic courthouse and national historic district located at Nashville, Brown County, Indiana. It encompasses three contributing buildings: the courthouse, Old Log Jail, and the Historical Society Museum Building. The Brown County Courthouse was built in 1873–1874, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style brick building. It has a gable roof and two-tiered, flat-roofed frame tower. The Old Log Jail was built in 1879, and is a small two-story log building. It measures 12 feet by 20 feet, and was used as a jail until 1922. The Historical Society Museum Building, or Brown County Community Building, is a two-story, rectangular log building. It was moved to its present location in 1936–1937. The Works Progress Administration funded the reconstruction and remodeling of the building.
George Boxley Cabin is a historic log cabin located at Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana. It was built about 1828, and is a one-story, log structure measuring 18 feet, 6 inches, by 16 feet, 6 inches. It has a gable roof and exterior end chimney. It is typical of cabins built during this period. The building is owned by the Sheridan Historical Society and located in the Sheridan's Veterans Park.
Warsaw Cut Glass Company is a historic factory building located at Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana. It is a two-story, plus basement, industrial building constructed of paving brick. The building measures 100 feet by 25 feet. Two small additions were constructed in 1912 and the building features an original handpainted sign added in 1915. The company remains in operation.
Robert Orr Polygonal Barn, also known as the Oxenrider Barn, is a historic twelve-sided barn located in Plain Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana. It was built between 1909 and 1911, and is a two-story, twelve-sided frame barn. It is topped by a three-pitch gambrel roof and a twelve-sided cupola.
Hall Farm is a historic home and farm located in Prairie Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana. The house was built in 1871, and is a two-story, three bay, Italianate style frame dwelling. It is topped by a low pitched hipped roof. The front facade features a two-story, one bay portico with elaborate brackets and scrollwork. Also on the property is a contributing timber frame English barn.
John Badlam Howe Mansion is a historic home located on the grounds of Howe Military School, in Howe, Lima Township, LaGrange County, Indiana. It was built in 1875–1876, and is a two-story, Italianate style white brick building trimmed with stone and terra cotta. It measures 51 feet by 78 feet, and features a three-story, central tower with a Second Empire style mansard roof.
John O'Ferrell Store, also known as "Olde Store", is a historic general store located at Mongo, Springfield Township, LaGrange County, Indiana. It was built in 1832, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style frame building, with later 19th century additions. The replacement shed roofed front porch was added in the 1930s. Over its history, the store served as a post office, distillery, and informal courtroom.
Gary Land Company Building, also known as Gary's First Town Hall, is a historic building located at Gary, Indiana. It was built in 1906, and is a 1 1/2-story, balloon frame building with a cross-gable roof. It measures about 20 feet wide and 40 feet deep. It was converted to a residence in 1909 and moved to its present site in 1956. It was the first building in Gary, it has functioned as a city hall, post office, school, and business building. The building currently serves as an historical museum and visitor's bureau for school tour groups and visitors to the City of Gary.
Griffith Grand Trunk Depot is a historic train station located at Griffith, Lake County, Indiana. It was built in 1911 by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. It is a simple one-story, frame building measuring 20 feet by 30 feet. It has a steeply pitched hipped roof with overhanging eaves and a projecting three-sided bay. The depot operated until 1980. It was moved to its present location in the Griffith Historical Park and Railroad Museum in 1980.
E.J. and E. Griffith Interlocking Tower is a historic interlocking tower located at Griffith, Lake County, Indiana. It was built in 1924 by the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway. It is a three-story, brick building measuring 25 feet long, 16 feet wide, and 30 feet tall. It has a concrete foundation and low pitched hipped roof. The depot operated until 1999. It was moved to its present location in the Griffith Historical Park and Railroad Museum in 2000.
Monroe Carnegie Library, also known as Old Monroe Carnegie Library, is a historic Carnegie library located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. It was built in 1917, and is a one-story, rectangular, Neoclassical style limestone building on a raised basement. The Monroe County History Center is a history museum the historic library building that was established as a Carnegie library. The museum is located on the site of Center School in the former Bloomington Public Library building. The library building is now home to the Monroe County Historical Society, their collection of artifacts, and their Genealogy Library. A historical marker is present at the site. The History Center is located at 202 East 6th Street. It is a tourist attraction.
Saint John's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located at Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana. It was built in 1837 by an Episcopal congregation organized through missionary bishop Jackson Kemper, and is a one-story, gable fronted frame building in the Greek Revival style. The original section measures 30 feet by 50 feet; a 30-foot rear addition was built in 1960. Atop the roof is a belfry added about 1950. It is the oldest remaining church building in Crawfordsville and Indiana's first Episcopal Church building.
Old Courthouse, also known as the Second St. Joseph County Courthouse, is a historic courthouse located at South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was designed by architect John M. Van Osdel (1811-1891) and built in 1853. It is a two-story, Greek Revival style stone building. The building measures 61 feet wide and 93 feet deep. It features a projecting front portico supported by Doric order columns and a front gable roof topped by a cupola. It was moved to its present site in 1896. Following construction of the Third St. Joseph County Courthouse, the building housed the local G.A.R. chapter and historical museum. The building now houses office of the Traffic and Misdemeanor Court and Small Claims Court.
