The 1983 Korean Super League was the first ever season of the K League, the top football league in South Korea. A total of five teams participated in the league. Two of them were professional teams (Hallelujah FC and Yukong Elephants), and three of them were semi-professional teams (POSCO Dolphins, Daewoo Royals and Kookmin Bank). Each founding member had its mascot: eagle, elephant, dolphin, royal (crown) and magpie. [1]

The season began on 8 May and ended on 25 September. It was played in two stages: the first stage was held in five cities (Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Jeonju, and Daejeon), and the second stage was held in nine cities (including Gwangju, Chuncheon, Masan, and Andong).

The 1984 Korean Super League was the second season of top football league in South Korea. A total of eight teams participated in the league. Six of them were professional teams, and the other teams were semi-professional teams. It began on 31 March and ended on 11 November. It divided into two stages, and winners of each stage qualified for the championship playoffs. It gave 3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, and 1 point for a draw without a goal.

The 1985 Korean Super League was the third season of top football league in South Korea. A total of eight teams participated in the league. Six of them were professional teams, and two of them were semi-professional teams.. It began on 13 April and ended on 22 September.

The 1986 Korean Football Festival was the fourth season of the top football league in South Korea. Six teams participated in this season. Five of them were professional teams and one was a semi-professional team. Hallelujah FC, the first South Korean first professional football club, changed its status to a semi-professional club and withdrew from the league afterwards. Sangmu FC, run by the Army also withdrew, leaving Hanil Bank as the only semi-professional team in the league.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lee Jang-soo</span> South Korean footballer

Lee Jang-soo is a South Korean association football manager and a former player. As a player, he had the distinction of being one of the first fully professional footballers to play in the newly formed Korean Super League in the inaugural 1983 league season, however it has been as a manager where he has distinguished himself particularly within China where he has gone on to twice win the Chinese FA Cup with Chongqing Lifan and Qingdao Beilaite. He has also achieved a successful spell back home within South Korea with FC Seoul when he won the K-League Cup, however he has continued to return to China where he was the manager of Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande whose appointment also makes him the longest serving foreign coach within Chinese football.

Kim Jong-boo is a South Korean football manager and former player. He was one of the most influential footballers in South Korea during the 1980s.

Football is one of the most popular sports, both in terms of participants and spectators, in Seoul. It hosted several of South Korea's leading football clubs and has the biggest football stadium in the country, the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Park Chang-sun is a South Korean former international footballer.

On 1 November 1988, Tongil Sports Co., Ltd. announced the organization of Ilhwa Chunma Football Club and chose Dongdaemun Stadium in Seoul as its home stadium. Then on 18 March 1989, 108 days after the announcement, the organizing ceremony was held at the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. Ilhwa Chunma participated in its first season as the 6th professional football team of Korean Professional Football League.

1990 Korean Professional Football League was the second season for Ilhwa Chunma. They finished the season at the bottom of the league table.

Busan IPark is a South Korean professional football club based in Busan that competes in K League 2, the second tier of the South Korean football pyramid. They play their home games at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.

K League is South Korea's professional football league. It includes the first division K League 1 and the second division K League 2.

Park Sung-hwa is a South Korean football manager and a former football player. He is a gold medalist in the 1978 Asian Games.
