The 2023 K League 2, also known as the Hana 1Q K League 2 for sponsorship reasons, was the 11th season of the K League 2, the second-highest division in South Korean football league system.

Contents

Following the regular season, in which each team played each other three times, Gimcheon Sangmu were the champions, gaining direct promotion to K League 1. [2] After three rounds of play-offs, no other teams were promoted at the end of this sesason. [3]

2022 champions Gwangju FC and play-off winners Daejeon Hana Citizen were promoted to the K League 1, while Seongnam FC and Gimcheon Sangmu were relegated from the top flight. [4]

Cheonan City and Chungbuk Cheongju, which played in the K3 League until 2022, joined the K League and made their professional debuts in the K League 2.

Promotion play-offs

The first round was contested between the fourth and fifth-placed teams, and its winners played the third-placed team in the second round. When the first and second round matches were finished as draws, their winners were decided on the regular season rankings without extra time and penalty shoot-outs.

The winners of the second round and the runners-up competed with the tenth and eleventh-placed team of the K League 1, respectively, in the final round for the K League 1 spots of the next season. Each match of the final round was a two-legged tie.

The K League 2 (Korean: K리그2) is the men's second-highest division of the South Korean football league system. It is contested between thirteen professional clubs and operates on a promotion and relegation system with K League 1.

The 2009 WK League was the inaugural season of the WK League, the South Korean women's football league. It began on 20 April 2009 with the first matches of the regular season and ended on 16 November 2009 with the return leg of the Championship Final. The slogan of the 2009 season was "Beautiful Football".

Seongnam FC became champions and qualified for the 2015 AFC Champions League.

The 2015 K League Challenge was the third season of the K League 2, the second-highest division in the South Korean football league system. Champions and winners of promotion playoffs could be promoted to the K League Classic.

The 2015 Korean FA Cup, known as the 2015 KEB Hana Bank FA Cup, was the 20th edition of the Korean FA Cup. FC Seoul became champions and qualified for the 2016 AFC Champions League.

The 2018 Korean FA Cup, known as the 2018 KEB Hana Bank FA Cup, was the 23rd edition of the Korean FA Cup. Daegu FC qualified for the group stage of the 2019 AFC Champions League after becoming eventual champions.
