The 2001 Winton V8 Supercar round was the tenth round of the 2001 Shell Championship Series. It was held on the weekend of 8 to 9 September at the Winton Motor Raceway in Benalla, Victoria.

Russell Ingall took his first round win of the season, which would further help his efforts to win the championship.

The first race was cut short by a few laps after the race was red flagged due to several incidents that warranted the race to be stopped, thereby making Greg Murphy the winner.

Jason John Richards was a New Zealand motor racing driver. A multiple championship winning driver in his homeland in the New Zealand Touring Car Championship, he moved to Australia to pursue a career in the Australian-based V8 Supercar Championship Series. Richards career highlights include finishing second three times in V8 Supercar's most famous race, the Bathurst 1000. Richards died at the age of 35, just over a year after being diagnosed with cancer.

Winton Motor Raceway is a motor racing track in Winton, near Benalla, Victoria, Australia.

The 1998 Australian Touring Car Championship was an Australian motor racing competition open to 5.0 Litre Touring Cars,. The championship, which was sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport as an Australian title, was contested over a ten-round series which began on 1 February 1998 at Sandown International Motor Raceway and ended on 2 August at Oran Park International Raceway. The series was promoted as the "Shell Australian Touring Car Championship". The title, which was the 39th Australian Touring Car Championship, was won by Craig Lowndes.

The 2008 Australian Carrera Cup Championship was a CAMS sanctioned motor racing title for drivers of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Cars. The championship, which was contested over nine rounds across five different states, began on 21 February 2008 at the Clipsal 500 and finished on 26 October at the Gold Coast Indy 300. It was the sixth and last Australian Carrera Cup Championship until the 2011 season.

The 2009 championship was the 53rd Australian Drivers' Championship and the fifth to be contested with open wheel racing cars constructed in accordance with FIA Formula 3 regulations. It was the 41st national series for Formula Fords to be held in Australia and the 18th to carry the Australian Formula Ford Championship name. The championship, which was promoted as the "2010 Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship", began on 26 March 2010 at the Albert Park Street Circuit and ended on 21 November at Sandown Raceway after eight rounds. The 2010 Shannons V8 Touring Car National Series was the third running of the V8 Touring Car National Series. The series took place on the program of Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships events. The Series began at Symmons Plains Raceway on 10 April and finished at Sandown Raceway on 24 October. Entries were hit hard in 2010 with just seven cars appearing across the opening two rounds and only three appearing at both of the first two events. Entries picked up after that, peaking at 14 cars at Winton.

The 2011 Commodore Cup National Series is an Australian motor racing series. It is the 18th running of the Commodore Cup and runs on the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships calendar.
