2002 OFC Nations Cup squads

The 2002 OFC Nations Cup was an international football tournament that was held in Auckland, New Zealand from 5 to 14 July 2002. The 8 national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of players; only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament. An initial six-team qualifying phase took place in Samoa from 9 to 18 March 2002 allowing the top two, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea, to move on and join Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Vanuatu at the main tournament.

Contents

Players marked (c) were named as captain for their national squad. Players' club teams and players' age are as of 5 July 2002 – the tournament's opening day.

The Australia national rugby league team, the Kangaroos, have represented Australia in senior men's rugby league football competition since the establishment of the game in Australia in 1908. Administered by the Australian Rugby League Commission, the Kangaroos are ranked third in the IRL Men's World Rankings. The team is the most successful in Rugby League World Cup history, having won the competition 12 times, and contested 16 of the 17 finals, only failing to reach the final in the 1954 inaugural tournament. Only five nations have beaten Australia in test matches, and Australia has an overall win percentage of 69%.

The New Zealand national rugby league team has represented New Zealand in rugby league since 1907. Administered by the New Zealand Rugby League, they are commonly known as the Kiwis, after the native bird of that name. The team's colours are black and white, with the dominant colour being black, and the players perform a haka before every match they play as a challenge to their opponents. The New Zealand Kiwis are currently first in the IRL World Rankings. Since the 1980s, most New Zealand representatives have been based overseas, in the professional National Rugby League and Super League competitions. Before that, players were selected entirely from clubs in domestic New Zealand leagues.

The France national rugby union team represents the French Rugby Federation in men's international rugby union matches. Colloquially known as Le XV de France, the team traditionally wears blue shirts with a Gallic rooster embroidered on the chest, white shorts and red socks in reference to the French national flag. Les Bleus mostly play home matches at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, near Paris. They compete in the annual Six Nations Championship along with England, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. France have won the tournament on 26 occasions, winning the Grand Slam 10 times.

The 2011 Rugby League Four Nations tournament was the third staging of the Rugby League Four Nations tournament and was played in England and Wales during October and November 2011, which was contested by regular contestants Australia, England and New Zealand, in addition to Wales, who had qualified for their first Four Nations by winning the 2010 European Cup. The tournament saw the return of international rugby league to London's Wembley Stadium for the first time since 1997, with a double-header played on 5 November 2011. Australia won the tournament, defeating England in the final at Elland Road, Leeds, on 19 November 2011. The match was the last of the 17-year professional career of Australia's captain Darren Lockyer.

The 2004 OFC Nations Cup was an international football tournament that was held in Adelaide, Australia from 29 May to 6 June 2004. The 6 national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of players; only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament. An initial four-team qualifying phase took place in Samoa and the Solomon Islands from 10 to 19 May 2004 allowing the top four, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Vanuatu, to move on and join Australia and New Zealand at the main tournament.

The 2000 OFC Nations Cup was an international football tournament that was held in Papeete, Tahiti from 19 to 28 June 2000. The 6 national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of players; only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament. The 2000 Melanesia Cup and the 2000 Polynesia Cup were used to find the four qualifiers for the finals tournament, to move on and join Australia and New Zealand at the main tournament. Vanuatu replaced Fiji in the final tournament, due to civil unrest in Fiji following the 2000 Fijian coup d'état.
