Ariel "Arik" Ze'evi is a retired Israeli dan 6 black belt in judo. He had a long and successful career competing in half-heavyweight judo competitions. He won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the men's 100 kg judo competition.

The 2005 World Judo Championships were the 24th edition of the Judo World Championships, and were held in Cairo, Egypt from September 8 to September 12, 2005. Brazilian João Derly was voted as best performance of the championship. On the last day of competition, team events were held, as South Korea won the men's team event and France won the women's.

Yasuhiro Yamashita is a Japanese judoka. He currently works as an instructor or advisor for numerous organizations, including Tokai University, the International Judo Federation, and the All Japan Judo Federation. He retired from competitive judo on 17 June 1985 after a remarkable career where he won five gold medals in international competitions and marked 203 consecutive victories until his retirement where he went undefeated his entire career against non-Japanese wrestlers. He received the Japanese National Prize of Honor on 9 October 1984. He is considered the greatest judoka ever.

James A. Pedro is an American retired World Championship and Olympic judoka and current judo coach. Pedro currently holds a 7th degree black belt in judo. He is the coach of Kayla Harrison, the first and currently only American to win an Olympic gold medal in judo.

Jason Newth Morris is an American retired judoka. He was a four-time Olympian and 2008 Olympic Coach, is best known for winning the silver medal in the ‍–‍78 kg weight category in the 1992 Summer Olympics and a Bronze Medal in the 1993 World Judo Championships. He is a Hachidan his favorite techniques are Uchi Mata, Tai Otoshi, and his "Sticker or Sticky Foot". He was also an NCAA Division I All-American wrestler and 2x EIWA conference champion at Syracuse University.

The World Judo Championships are the highest level of international judo competition, along with the Olympic judo competition. The championships are held once every year by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. Team competitions have also been held since 1994. The men's championships began in 1956, though the format and periodicity of the championships have changed over time. The last edition of the championships took place in Doha, Qatar in 2023.

Rasul Boqiev is a Tajikistani judoka who competes in the ‍–‍73 kg (lightweight) category. He has won bronze medal at the 2007 World Judo Championships and a bronze medal, Tajikistan's first ever Olympic medal, at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Tuvshinbayar Naidan is a Mongolian former professional judoka. He is the 2008 Olympic Champion, 2012 Olympic silver medalist, 2014 Asian games champion, 2017 World Championships bronze medalist, 2016 Asian Championships gold medalist, 2007 silver medalist and two-time bronze medalist in ‍–‍100 kg division. Naidan is serving a sixteen-year jail term for a 2021 fatal assault on a fellow judoka and childhood friend Erdenebileg Enkhbat.

Teddy Pierre-Marie Riner is a French judoka. He has won eleven World Championships gold medals, the first and only judoka to do so, and three Olympic gold medals. He has also won five gold medals at the European Championships. He was a member of the Levallois Sporting Club before joining Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017.

Kazuhiro Ninomiya is a retired judoka who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Françoise Harteveld is a Dutch judoka. She began her judo career at the age of 3 at Budosport Mahorokan in Maassluis. Her JudoDad, Coos Henneveld was her mentor and taught her all her skills. Later, his son Rob Henneveld was her coach, and with him she won as many titles and medals as under her JudoDad.

The European Judo Championships is the Judo European Championship organized by the European Judo Union. The 2015 and 2019 editions were held during the respective European Games. This is also expected for future editions of the European Games.

The 2017 World Judo Open Championships were held in Marrakesh, Morocco, from 11 to 12 November 2017.

The World Judo Juniors Championships are the highest level of international judo competition for juniors, 21 years of age or less. The championships are held once every year by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. The World Juniors Championships are the only junior event awarding ranking points for the seniors world ranking list. The last edition of the championships took place in Odivelas, Portugal in 2023.

The 2008 World Judo Juniors Championships was an edition of the World Judo Juniors Championships, organised by the International Judo Federation. It was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 23 to 26 October 2008.
