The 2008 European Judo Championships were the nineteenth edition of the European Judo Championships, held in the Altice Arena, in Lisbon, Portugal, from April 11 to April 13, 2008.

The European Judo Championships is the Judo European Championship organized by the European Judo Union. The 2015 and 2019 editions were held during the respective European Games. This is also expected for future editions of the European Games.
Alice Schlesinger is an Israeli-British retired judoka and sambo competitor. Born in Israel, she competed for that country until 2014, but following a dispute with the national federation she has started competing for Great Britain, of whom she is a citizen through her English-born mother.
Yahima Ramirez is a Cuban-born Portuguese judoka, which competes in the women's –78 kg category. She won the gold medal at the 2009 Lusophony Games and a bronze at the 2008 European Judo Championships, both held in Lisbon. Ramirez won more than 10 medals and victories in the World Cups in Lisbon, 2009 and Taipei, 2015. She received one bronze medal at the European Open in Lisbon in 2018, and another at the European Cup in Malaga in 2019.
Yuliya Valeryevna Kuzina is a Russian judoka, who played for the middleweight category. She won a bronze medal for the 63 kg division at the 2004 European Judo Championships in Bucharest, Romania.
Lyudmila Yuryevna Bogdanova is a Russian judoka, who played for the extra lightweight category. She is a multiple-time Russian judo champion, and a two-time gold medalist for the 52 kg division at the European Junior Judo Championships. She also achieved three top-five finishes in the women's 48 kg class at the European Judo Championships.
Vazha Margvelashvili is a Georgian judoka. He won gold medal at the 2016 European Judo Championships and silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the men's 66 kg event.
