The 2009 AMA Supercross season (for sponsorship reasons, the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship) was the thirty-sixth AMA Supercross Championship season. It was also the second season with the World Supercross Championship designation. James Stewart Jr. claimed his second title, after winning eleven of the seventeen rounds. [1]

The AMA Supercross Championship (commercially known as Monster Energy AMA Supercross) is an American motorcycle racing series. Founded by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in 1974, the AMA Supercross Championship races are held from January through early May. Supercross is a variant of motocross which involves off-road motorcycles on a constructed dirt track consisting of steep jumps and obstacles; the tracks are usually constructed inside a sports stadium. The easy accessibility and comfort of these stadium venues helped supercross surpass off-road motocross as a spectator attraction in the United States by the late 1970s.
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is an American nonprofit organization of more than 200,000 motorcyclists that organizes numerous motorcycling activities and campaigns for motorcyclists' legal rights. Its mission statement is "to promote the motorcycling lifestyle and protect the future of motorcycling." James Stewart Jr., also known as Bubba Stewart, is an American former professional motocross racer who competed in the AMA Motocross and the AMA Supercross Championships. Through his years of racing, he earned the nickname "The Fastest Man on The Planet".
Chad Mark Reed is an Australian motocross and supercross racer. He is a multi-time champion record holder for the most main event starts in AMA Supercross history, with 265 starts as of 21 June 2020, his career spanning almost 20 years. He was taught from a young age to be capable of competing at the sport's most elite level. He has proven to be the most consistent supercross/motocross racer in the 2000–2009 decade and has grown to be one of the sport's most loved individuals, due to his years of experience and dedication to his sport. He has since ascended the international ranks of the sport to become Australia's most successful motocross racer.
Jeffrey Ward is a British-American former professional motocross racer, auto racing driver and off-road racer. He won the AMA Motocross Championship five times and the AMA Supercross Championship twice and the Motocross des Nations seven times. After retiring from motorcycle competition, Ward turned to auto racing, finishing in second place at the Indianapolis 500 and winning a race at the Texas Motor Speedway. He then competed in off-road truck racing and rallycross. Ward was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999 and, was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America on 12 August 2006.
The Daytona 200 is an annual motorcycle road racing competition held in early spring at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The 200-mile (320 km) race was founded in 1937 when it was sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). The original course used the beach itself before moving to a paved closed circuit in 1961. The Daytona 200 reached its zenith of worldwide popularity in the 1970s when the race attracted the largest crowds of any AMA race along with some of the top rated international motorcycle racers.

The motocross race series was founded and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in 1972. The series is the major outdoor motocross series in the United States and is sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing and managed by MX Sports Pro Racing.
Ryan Dungey is an American professional motocross and supercross racer. He competed in the AMA Motocross Championships from 2006 to 2017 and again in 2022. Dungey is notable for being a four-time supercross and four-time motocross national champion.

Eli Tomac is an American professional Motocross and Supercross racer competing in the AMA Supercross and Motocross championships; a two-time AMA Supercross Champion, a five-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion and a Regional 250 Supercross Champion.
Jason Anderson is an American professional Motocross and Supercross racer #21. He has competed in the AMA Motocross Championships and Supercross championships since 2011. Nicknamed "El Hombre", he is the 2018 AMA Supercross and FIM World Champion, the 21st winner of the Supercross title.
The 2019 AMA Supercross Championship was an American motorcycle racing championship that took place from January 5, 2019 - May 4, 2019 over 17 rounds at various stadiums across the United States.
The 2020 AMA Supercross Championship is an American motorcycle racing championship that started January 4, 2020, and ended June 21, 2020. Ten of the 17 rounds had been completed when the season was suspended on March 12, 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 14, 2020, promoter Feld Entertainment announced the season would conclude with races on Wednesdays and Sundays at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The 2022 AMA Supercross season is the 49th season of professional stadium off-road motorcycle racing in the United States.
The SuperMotocross World Championship is the premier combined discipline world championship of off-road motorcycle racing. Conceived in 2023 after the AMA Supercross Championship lost its FIM World Championship status, the series will consist of the aforementioned Supercross series and the AMA Motocross Championship, followed by two playoff races and a final to determine the SuperMotocross world champion.
The 2023 AMA Supercross Championship is the 50th season of off-road stadium motorcycle racing in the United States. Comprising 17 rounds, the series will run from January until May, crowning supercross champions in both the 250cc and 450cc classes, concluding with the Salt Lake City round on May 13.
Aaron Plessinger is an American professional motocross and supercross racer. Plessinger has ridden professionally in the AMA Supercross Championship and the AMA Motocross Championship since 2015.
