The 2009 Donington Formula Two round was the fifth round of the 2009 FIA Formula Two Championship season. It was held on 16 August 2009 at Donington Park in North West Leicestershire, United Kingdom. The first race was won by Andy Soucek, with Mikhail Aleshin and Tobias Hegewald also on the podium. The second race was won by Julien Jousse, with Kazim Vasiliauskas and Mirko Bortolotti also on the podium. Only 24 cars competed at the event, after Henry Surtees' fatal accident at Brands Hatch left a vacant slot that was unfilled.

Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Derbyshire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival.
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix. The 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the first race in the newly created World Championship of Drivers. The race rotated between Silverstone, Aintree and Brands Hatch from 1955 to 1986, but settled permanently at the Silverstone track in 1987. The circuit also hosts the British round of the MotoGP series.
Henry John Surtees was a British racing driver and the son of John Surtees. He died during a Formula Two race at Brands Hatch when he was struck by a wheel which came off another car which had spun into a wall.

Alexander Brundle is a British racing driver and broadcaster. He was the 2016 European Le Mans Series champion (LMP3) and is the son of Formula One driver-turned-commentator Martin Brundle. He attended Oakham School in Rutland.
Harry William Tincknell is a British professional racing driver currently racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Dempsey-Proton Racing. He won the LMP2 class on his Le Mans 24 Hour race debut in 2014 and again in LMGTE Pro in 2020, the first driver in the race's history to win in both LMP2 and LMGTE Pro. Other notable victories include the 2016 European Le Mans Series title and the overall win at the 2020 12 Hours of Sebring.

It was held on 5 and 6 September 2009 at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben at Oschersleben, Germany. The second race was won by Mikhail Aleshin, with Andy Soucek and Julien Jousse also on the podium.

It was held on 19 and 20 September 2009 at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari at Imola, Italy. The first race was won by Kazim Vasiliauskas, with Mirko Bortolotti and Andy Soucek also on the podium. The second race was won by Andy Soucek, with Robert Wickens and Miloš Pavlović also on the podium. Soucek's third place in race one earned him the championship, as Wickens and Mikhail Aleshin had insufficient points to overhaul the Spaniard's point tally.
The 2009 Catalunya Formula Two round was the eighth and final round of the 2009 FIA Formula Two Championship season. It was held on 31 October and 1 November 2009 at Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló, just outside Barcelona, Spain. The first race was won by Andy Soucek, with Mikhail Aleshin and debutant Tristan Vautier also on the podium. The second race was also won by Soucek, with Nicola de Marco and Robert Wickens also on the podium. Edoardo Piscopo missed this round to participate in the first round of 2009–10 GP2 Asia Series season in Abu Dhabi. His slot was filled by Formula Palmer Audi driver Vautier. Carlos Iaconelli also missed out on the round, due to flu.

It was held on 18 August 2009 at the old configuration of the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, England. Pole position for first race was secured by Jolyon Palmer. Philipp Eng set his fastest lap in second qualifying.

He previously competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship between 2021 and 2023, and is the champion of the 2018 French F4 Championship, as well as the 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup vice-champion. Collet is a former member of the Alpine Academy and the Winfield Racing School.
Kaylen Frederick is a German-American race car driver who is currently competing in Super Formula Lights with B-Max Racing Team. He was the last champion of the British Formula 3 Championship in 2020. He previously competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship from 2021 to 2023.
Zak O'Sullivan is a British racing driver who most recently raced for ART Grand Prix in the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship. He previously raced in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2022 and 2023 for Carlin and Prema Racing respectively. He is the champion of the 2021 GB3 Championship and the 2023 Formula 3 runner-up. He is a member of the Williams Driver Academy.
Christian Mansell is an Australian racing driver who is competing in the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship for Trident. He most recently competed in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship with ART Grand Prix, finishing fifth in the standings, and previously with Campos Racing.
Luke Browning is a British racing driver who is competing in the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship for ART Grand Prix. He previously won the 2022 GB3 Championship and the 2020 F4 British Championship with Hitech and Fortec Motorsports respectively. Browning also finished third in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Pulse-Eight. He is a member of the Williams Driver Academy.
