The 2010 Silverstone Formula Two round was the first round of the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship season. It was held on 18 August 2009 at the old configuration of the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, England. Pole position for first race was secured by Jolyon Palmer. [1] Philipp Eng set his fastest lap in second qualifying. [2]

Jolyon Carlyle Palmer is a British motorsport commentator and columnist, covering the Formula One World Championship on BBC Sport, Channel 4 and F1TV. Prior to his media career, Palmer was a racing driver and the 2014 GP2 Series champion. Palmer drove for Renault Sport F1 Team in Formula One. He made his Formula One debut with the team at the start of the 2016 season, during which he scored his first World Championship points at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Palmer stayed with Renault for 2017 through to the Japanese Grand Prix.

The 2010 Brno Formula Two round was the seventh round of the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship and was held on July 31 and August 1, 2010 at the Masaryk Circuit, Brno, Czech Republic. Nicola de Marco won the first 20-lap race from second position, earning his first series victory. Dean Stoneman, the pole position starter of the round, finished in second position and Sergey Afanasyev was third. Jolyon Palmer took the win in the second 19-lap race from a second position start. Stoneman took second place and Kazim Vasiliauskas finished third.

The 2010 Oschersleben Formula Two round was the eighth round of the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship and was held from September 4 and 5, 2010 at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, Oschersleben, Germany. Dean Stoneman won the first race on September 4, which took place over a distance of 24 laps, from fifth place. Kazim Vasiliauskas finished second and Jolyon Palmer took third. Stoneman won the second 23-lap event on 5 September from pole position. Vasiliauskas placed second and Sergey Afanasyev was third.

The 2011 FIA Formula Two Championship season was the third year of the FIA Formula Two Championship. The championship began on 17 April at Silverstone and finished on 30 October at the Circuit de Catalunya, after eight double-header rounds and all in support of International GT Open racing weekends.

The 2012 FIA Formula Two Championship was the fourth and the last of the FIA Formula Two Championship. The season started on 14 April at Silverstone and finished on 30 September at Monza. The 2012 calendar saw the addition of two new races.

This race was the seventy-second running of the British Grand Prix, the sixty-eighth time that the race has been run as a World Championship event, and the fifty-first time that the World Championship event has been held at the Silverstone Circuit.
