The 2009 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships were held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, from 10-15 February, and were organised by the Badminton Europe and the Badminton England. It was the 20th edition of the tournament. Denmark was the defending champion. This is the first edition of European Mixed Team Badminton Championships which is not held together with the individual European Championships. [1] The event also saw two bronze medals awarded for both losing semifinalist. [2]
Denmark defeated England in the final 3–2 to defend their title.

Tine Baun is a former badminton player from Denmark. Most notably, she won the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships women's singles title three times in 2008, 2010, and 2013 – the last of these being her final tournament before retirement.
The Thomas Cup, sometimes called the World Men's Team Championships, is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championships have been conducted every two years since the 1982 tournament, amended from being conducted every three years since the first tournament held in 1948–1949.
The Sudirman Cup is the world mixed team badminton championship which takes place every two years. It is held in the same venue for the IBF World Championships in the same year until International Badminton Federation decided to split the two tournaments starting from 2003. There are five matches in every Sudirman Cup tie which consists of men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. The cup is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton player and the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI). The first Sudirman Cup tournament took place in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia on 24-29 May 1989.
Theratil Rajiv Ouseph is a former badminton player from England. A member of the Great Britain and England Badminton squads, he is the current England number one men's singles player. In 2017, Ouseph won the Men's singles title at the European Badminton Championships, becoming European champion.
Greysia Polii is an Indonesian badminton player specializing in doubles. Polii was the women's doubles gold medalists in 2014 Asian Games and 2019 Southeast Asian Games. She also won three bronze medals at the World Championships in 2015, 2018 and 2019. Polii was a member of BWF Athletes' Commission to represent the needs and views of athletes to the BWF council and committees from 2013–2017.
Carsten Mogensen is a badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Mogensen was a former world number 1 in the BWF World ranking together with Mathias Boe.
Mathias Boe is a badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China.
Jan Østergaard Jørgensen is a badminton player from Denmark who plays for SIF (Skovshoved) in the Denmark badminton league. He won the men's singles title at the 2014 European Championships, and the bronze medalist at the 2015 World Championships. He joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China.
Viktor Axelsen is a Danish badminton player. He was the 2017 World Champion and the bronze medalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He won the 2010 World Junior Championships, beating Korea's Kang Ji-wook in the final to become the first ever European player to hold the title. Axelsen was crowned European men's singles champion in 2016 and 2018.
The 2011 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships were held at the Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from February 15–20, and were organised by the Badminton Europe and the Nederlandse Badminton Bond. It was the 21st edition of the tournament. Denmark was the defending champion. The draw was made on 17 December 2010.

Zhao Yunlei is a mixed and women's doubles badminton athlete from China. She graduated with a BA from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She is the first and only badminton player to have ever won two Gold medals in the same Olympic edition, winning in both the Mixed and Women's Doubles categories in 2012. Zhao joins the ranks with nine other players with two Olympic Gold Medals, the highest number of Gold Medals won by any badminton athlete. Through her performance at the 2014 and 2015 BWF World Championships, she became the first player to win two consecutive gold medals in two consecutive BWF World Championships.

Christopher Phillip Langridge is an English badminton player. He competed for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won three medals. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal in the men's doubles, partnered with Marcus Ellis. They also won gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 European Games.

Marcus Ellis is a British badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion in the 2016 English National Badminton Championships. Ellis and Chris Langridge won a bronze medal in the men's doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, also gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. At the 2019 Minsk European Games, Ellis captured two gold medals; in the men's doubles with Langridge and in the mixed doubles event with Lauren Smith.
The 2017 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships was held in Lubin, Poland, between 15–19 February 2017 and organised by Badminton Europe and Polish Badminton Federation. Denmark, the defending champion, retained their title after defeating Russia by 3-0 in the final.

The 2020 edition of the European Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships was held in Liévin, France, from 11 to 16 February 2020. This tournament also serves as European qualification for the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup.
