The Belgium national badminton team (Dutch : Belgisch nationaal badmintonteam; French : Équipe nationale belge de badminton; German : Belgische badminton-nationalmannschaft) represents Belgium in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Royal Belgian Badminton Federation. [1] [2] The Belgium national team have never qualified for the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The last time Belgium competed in the Sudirman Cup was in 2007.
Belgium made their international team competition debut when the national mixed team competed in the 1962 Helvetia Cup. The team has had multiple podium positions at the Helvetia Cup. The Belgian junior team competed in the Finlandia Cup and were runners-up in 2002. [3]
The Belgian national team was formed in 1949 after the establishment of the Royal Belgian Badminton Federation. The first national championships were also held in 1949. [4]
The Belgian men's team first competed in the 2006 European Men's Team Badminton Championships. [5] The team finished third in group after winning 4–1 against Estonia and were eliminated in the group stages after losing 3–2 to Russia and 5–0 to Poland. [6] [7] In the next edition of the championships in 2008, the team finished last in their group after losing to Poland, Portugal and Bulgaria. [8]
In the 2020 European Men's Team Badminton Championships, the team were close to qualifying for the quarter-finals of the championships. The team won 4–1 against their Turkish opponents and 5–0 against Hungary. They failed to become the champions of the group stage after losing 5–0 against France.
The Belgian women's team competed in the 2008 European Women's Team Badminton Championships. [9] The team lost 5–0 to Russia and 4–1 to Finland. They finished third in the group after defeating Ireland 4–1. The team failed to enter the quarter-finals of the 2010 European Men's Team Badminton Championships even after finishing second in their group in the group stages. [10]
The team then competed in the 2020 European Men's Team Badminton Championships. The team lost 5–0 to Russia but won against Iceland and Lithuania to finish second in their group. [11] [12] [13]
The Belgian mixed team first took part in the 1962 Helvetia Cup. The team finished in fourth place after defeating Switzerland. [14] The team then went on to finish third in the 1963 Helvetia Cup and then became runners-up in the next edition of the championships. [14] The team finished in third place again in the 1974 Helvetia Cup. [14] The mixed team then made their first appearance in the European Mixed Team Badminton Championships in 1976 and finished in 13th place. [15]
In 2015, Belgium hosted the 2015 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships which granted the national team qualification for the tournament. [16] [17] The team were grouped with England and Ireland in Group 2. The team finished last in their group after losing 3–2 to Ireland and 5–0 to England.

The United States national badminton team represents the United States in international badminton team competitions. The national team is controlled by the governing body for badminton in the country, USA Badminton. The United States is one of the five founding members of the Badminton Pan America.
The Australia national badminton team, also known as The Falcons, represents Australia in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by Badminton Australia, the leading authority for badminton in the country. The team's history dates back to 1900, with the establishment of Badminton Australia in 1932 leading to the formation of the national team. The Falcons made their international debut in the 1955 Thomas Cup.
The Estonia national badminton team represents Estonia in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Estonian Badminton Federation, the governing body for badminton in Estonia.
The Kenya national badminton team is a badminton team that plays for Kenya in international competitions. It is controlled by Kenya's governing body for the sport, Badminton Kenya. Kenya is one of the first three countries to compete in the inaugural African Badminton Championships in 1979.
The Egypt national badminton team represents Egypt in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by the Egyptian Badminton Federation, the governing body for badminton in Egypt.
The Kazakhstan national badminton team represents Kazakhstan in international badminton team competitions. The national team is controlled by the National Badminton Federation of Republic of Kazakhstan, the governing body for badminton in Kazakhstan.
The Israel national badminton team represents Israel in international badminton team competitions. The Israel Badminton Association controls the national team and the players' ability to join tournaments.
The Nepal national badminton team represents Nepal in international badminton team competitions. The Nepalese national team is controlled by the Nepal Badminton Association, the governing body for badminton in Nepal.
The Austria national badminton team represents Austria in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Austrian Badminton Association. Austria participated in the Sudirman Cup from 1989 until 2017.
The Norway national badminton team represents Norway in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Norwegian Badminton Association. Norway participated in the Sudirman Cup until 2007. The national team have never qualified nor competed in the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup.
The Wales national badminton team represents Wales in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by Badminton Wales, the national organization for badminton in the country. Wales have never participated in the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The team's last appearance in the international stage was at the 2007 Sudirman Cup.
The Hungary national badminton team represents Hungary in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Hungarian Badminton Association. The Hungarian team have only participated in the Sudirman Cup three times.
The Belarus national badminton team represents Belarus in international badminton team competitions. The Belarusian team is managed by the Belarusian Badminton Federation (BBF) which organizes badminton championships and prepares Belarusian national badminton teams. The team was formed in 1992 after the association was found.
The Armenia national badminton team represents Armenia in international badminton team competitions. The national team is controlled by the Badminton Federation of Armenia, the governing body of Armenian badminton. Armenia competed in the Sudirman Cup in 1989 and 1991 as part of the Soviet Union national badminton team.

The Myanmar national badminton team represents Myanmar in international badminton team competitions. The best result for both men and women's team was a third place finish at the 1979 and 1995 Southeast Asian Games. The men's team was selected to take part in the 1976 Thomas Cup but failed to qualify into the first round.
The Romania national badminton team represents Romania in international badminton team competitions. The Romanian national team have never participated in the Sudirman Cup, Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. Romania participated in the 2006 European Men's Team Badminton Championships and were eliminated in the group stages.
The Zambia national badminton team represents Zambia in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by the Zambia Badminton Association.
The Barbados national badminton team represents Barbados in international badminton team competitions. The national team is managed by the Barbados Badminton Association in Bridgetown. Barbados have never medaled at the Pan American Badminton Championships. The Barbadian mixed team started participating in the Commonwealth Games mixed team event since 2010.
The Yugoslavia national badminton team represented Yugoslavia in international badminton team competitions. It was managed by the Badminton Federation of Yugoslavia, also known as Badmintonska Savez Jugoslavije. The national team competed in the Helvetia Cup two times and were runners-up in 1975.
