The 2012 AirAsia [1] Renault Clio Cup UK season is a multi-event, one make motor racing championship held across England. The championship features a mix of professional motor racing teams and privately funded drivers, competing in a Clio Renault Sport 200 that conform to the technical regulations for the championship. It forms part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC centrepiece.

This season is the 17th Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season. The season commenced on 31 March at Brands Hatch – on the circuit's Indy configuration – and will conclude on 21 October at the same venue, utilising the Grand Prix circuit, after sixteen races to be held at eight meetings, all in support of the 2012 British Touring Car Championship.

Regulation changes

The only change from 2011 to the technical regulations will be a weight increase of 15 kg (33 lb) to a total minimum weight of 1,165 kg (2,568 lb). [2]

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship is a touring car racing series held each year in the United Kingdom, currently organised and administered by TOCA. It was established in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship and was renamed as the British Touring Car Championship for the 1987 season. The championship, currently running Next Generation Touring Car regulations, has been run to various national and international regulations over the years including FIA Group 2, FIA Group 5, FIA Group 1, FIA Group A, FIA Super Touring and FIA Super 2000. British Formula Renault Championship referred to one of two Formula Renault championships that were held in the United Kingdom. The main series was Renault Sport UK's Formula Renault 2.0 UK championship which was held from 1989 to 2011 and was generally recognized as the British Formula Renault championship. However, in March 2012 it was announced that the Formula Renault UK series would not take place in 2012, with the series being ended definitively in September 2012. A secondary championship organised by the British Automobile Racing Club and known as the Protyre Formula Renault Championship was held continuously between 1995 and 2014. The championship was the only Formula Renault 2.0 championship operating in the United Kingdom after the demise of the main series, but was ended after the 2014 season.

The 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season was the 53rd British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. It began at Thruxton Circuit on 4 April and finished after 30 races over ten events at Brands Hatch on 10 October.

The 2010 Elf Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom with Michelin season began at Thruxton on 4 April and will finish after 20 races over 10 events at Brands Hatch on 10 October. Fifteen drivers from seven teams will take part throughout the season, mainly supporting rounds of the British Touring Car Championship but also supporting the UK round of the World Series by Renault.

The 2011 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season will begin at Brands Hatch on 3 April and will finish after 16 races over 8 events at Brands Hatch on 2 October. The season will support rounds of the British Touring Car Championship. On 28 February, AirAsia X was announced as title sponsor to the series in a three-year deal.

The 2011 Avon Tyres British GT season was the 19th season of the British GT Championship. The season began on 25 April at Oulton Park and finished on 8 October at Silverstone, after ten races at seven meetings.

The Protyre 2011 Formula Renault BARC season was the 17th Formula Renault BARC Championship. The BARC is the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) that is one of the biggest organising clubs for auto racing in the United Kingdom. The season began at Donington Park on 23 April and ended on 16 October at Silverstone, after twelve rounds held in England.

Scuderia Vittoria is a British motor racing team. The team was formed in late 2010 and is the brainchild of ex-BTCC racers Tom Ferrier and Danny Buxton along with multiple GT and single-seater championship team manager, Piers Masarati. The Middlesex based team ran a Ferrari 458 GT3 and a Ginetta G50 GT4 car in the 2011 British GT season. They also fielded up to 4 Renault Clio's in the UK Renault Clio Cup series.

The championship featured a mix of professional motor racing teams and privately funded drivers competing in 2 litre Formula Renault single seat race cars that conform to the technical regulations for the championship. The 2012 season was the 18th Formula Renault BARC Championship; the season began at Snetterton 200 on 7 April and ended on 7 October at Silverstone, after fourteen races, all held in England.

The 2012 Avon Tyres British GT season was the 20th season of the British GT Championship. The season began on 9 April at Oulton Park and finished on 30 September at Donington Park, after ten rounds held over seven meetings. Motorbase Performance drivers Michael Caine and Daniele Perfetti won the GT3 category in a Porsche 997 GT3-R, Team WFR's Jody Fanin and Warren Hughes won the GT4 championship driving a Ginetta G50, while Ryan Hooker and Gary Eastwood took the GTC title in a Ferrari 458 Challenge driving for FF Corse.

It formed part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC centerpiece after signing a three year extension to be on the package until the end of 2016. It was the 19th Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season, commencing on 30 March at Brands Hatch – on the circuit's Indy configuration – and concluded on 12 October at the same venue, utilising the Grand Prix circuit, after sixteen races held at eight meetings, all in support of the 2014 British Touring Car Championship season.

Finesse Motorsport is a British motor racing team based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire founded by Neil Giddings. They have raced on the TOCA support package in the Ginetta GT Supercup, Ginetta Junior Championship and Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom before stepping up to the British Touring Car Championship in 2013.

It is one of the most popular domestic motor racing series in the United Kingdom, with an extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC centrepiece. It was the 57th British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season.

Team BMR was a British motor racing team based in Buntingford, Hertfordshire and founded by Warren Scott. The team raced in the British Touring Car Championship between 2013 and 2019 after previously entering the 2004 British Superbike Championship season as BMR Racing. During the winter of 2013, Scott purchased Tony Gilham Racing's assets, including their four NGTC race cars.
