Shimizu S-Pulse is a Japanese professional football club located in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka, Shizuoka Prefecture. S-Pulse currently competes in the J2 League, Japanese second tier of professional league football. The club was formed in 1991 as a founding member of the J.League, which began the following year. The club originally consisted of players drawn exclusively from Shizuoka Prefecture, a unique distinction at the time.
The 2006 J.League Division 1 season was the 14th season since the establishment of the J.League. It began on March 4 and ended on December 2.
The 2005 season was the 13th season since the establishment of J.League. It began on March 5 and ended on December 3, followed by promotion/relegation series matches on December 7 and 10.

The 2005 Nagoya Grampus Eight season was Nagoya Grampus Eight's 13th season in the J. League Division 1 and 24th overall in the Japanese top flight. The club started the season under the management of Nelsinho, but he was sacked and replaced by Hitoshi Nakata. Nagoya finished the season in 14th place in the League, reached the Fifth Round of the Emperor's Cup and finished 3rd in Group D of the J. League Cup.

The 2023 J.League Cup, known as the 2023 J.League YBC Levain Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the 31st edition of J.League Cup, a Japanese association football cup competition. Opposed to the previous editions, the competition will not use the away goals rule. No byes awarded for the knockout stage and thus no knockout round playoffs.
