The 2008 J. League Division 2 season is the 37th season of the second-tier club football in Japan and the 10th season since the establishment of J2 League. The season started on March 8 and ended on December 6.
The 2003 J. League Division 2 season was the 32nd season of the second-tier club football in Japan and the 5th season since the establishment of J2 League.

The 2012 Shonan Bellmare season sees Shonan Bellmare compete in J.League Division 2 for the second consecutive season after being relegated from J1 in 2010, and 16th season overall in the second tier. Shonan Bellmare are also competing in the 2012 Emperor's Cup.
The 2012 Ventforet Kofu season sees Ventforet Kofu return to J.League Division 2 after being relegated from Division 1. This is their 36th non-consecutive season in the second tier of Japanese football, the longest number of seasons for a club in the division. Ventforet Kofu are also competing in the 2012 Emperor's Cup.
The 2012 Ehime FC season sees Ehime FC compete in J.League Division 2 for the seventh consecutive season. Ehime FC are also competing in the 2012 Emperor's Cup.

The 2013 Nagoya Grampus season was Nagoya Grampus' 21st season in the J. League Division 1 and 31st overall in the Japanese top flight. It was Dragan Stojković last season as manager, as he left at the end of the season, and they finished 11th in the J League, reached the group stage of the J. League Cup and were knocked out of the Emperor's Cup at the second round stage by Nagano Parceiro.

The 2015 season was Sanfrecce Hiroshima's seventh consecutive season in J.League Division 1, and 45th overall in the Japanese top flight. Sanfrecce Hiroshima also competed in the Emperor's Cup, J.League Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. The club secured its third J1 League title after beating Gamba Osaka on aggregate on 5 December 2015.
