A series of suspected bombs exploded outside the office of the Chinese Communist Party in Taiyuan, Shanxi, on 6 November 2013. The blast killed at least 1 and another 8 were injured. A 41-year-old Taiyuan resident, Feng Zhijun, was arrested on 8 November.

41-year-old Feng Zhijun was arrested on the morning of 8 November 2013 in connection with the bombing. He confessed to setting off the explosions. Feng was a resident of Xinghualing District in Taiyuan, and is a convicted thief. [1]
Shanxi is a landlocked province of the People's Republic of China and is part of the North China region. From late 2011 to 2014, Kenya experienced an upsurge in violent terrorist attacks. Kenyan government officials asserted that many of the murders and blasts were carried out by al-Shabaab in retaliation for Operation Linda Nchi, a coordinated military mission between the Somalian military and Kenyan military that began in October 2011, when troops from Kenya crossed the border into the conflict zones of southern Somalia. According to Kenyan security experts, the bulk of the attacks were increasingly carried out by radicalized Kenyan youth who were hired for the purpose. During his career he served as the Communist Party Secretary of the city of Jinzhong in Shanxi province, the director of propaganda of Shanxi province, and the Party Secretary of Taiyuan, the provincial capital. In September 2010 Shen was transferred to work for the Central Propaganda Department of the Communist Party under Liu Yunshan.
Feng Lixiang is a Chinese politician from Shanxi who served as the Communist Party Secretary of Datong from 2008 to 2014. In 2014, he was investigated for corruption, expelled from the Communist Party, and indicted on bribery charges.
