The 2015 season is Hougang United's 18th consecutive season in the top flight of Singapore football and in the S.League. Along with the S.League, the club will also compete in the Prime League, the Singapore Cup and the Singapore League Cup.

Albirex Niigata (S) were the eventual winners after defeating 2013 champions Balestier Khalsa 2–1 in the finals.

The 2016 S.League was the 21st season of the S.League, the top-flight Singaporean professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1996. The season began on 13 February 2016, and concluded on 28 October 2016. DPMM FC were the defending champions.
