The 2016 Baylor Bears baseball team represents Baylor University during the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bears play their home games at Baylor Ballpark in Waco, Texas as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They are led by head coach Steve Rodriguez, in his 1st season at Baylor.

Previous season

In 2015, the Bears finished the season 8th in the Big 12 with a record of 23–32 (9–15 Big 12). Baylor qualified for the 2015 Big 12 Conference baseball tournament and was eliminated in the tournament semifinal. They failed to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. [2] At the conclusion of the 2015 season, Baylor fired 21-year head coach Steve Smith, the winningest coach in Baylor athletic history. [3] On June 12, 2015, Baylor announced Pepperdine Waves head coach Steve Rodriguez as the Bears' new head coach for 2016; Rodriguez, a Pepperdine alum, played on the Waves' 1992 national championship team, then led the Waves to the NCAA tournament in 8 of his 12 years as head coach. [4]

The 2015 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2015. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2015 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 24, 2015, with the final game of the best-of-three championship series between Vanderbilt and Virginia, won by Virginia.

They finished the season 27–8, 12–6 in Big 12 play to finish in a three-way tie for second place. They lost to Kansas State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated New Mexico State and USC before losing in the Sweet Sixteen to South Carolina.

The 2017–18 Baylor Bears basketball team represented Baylor University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Scott Drew's 15th season at Baylor. The Bears competed in the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at the Ferrell Center in Waco, TX. They finished the season 19–15 overall and 8–10 in Big 12 play, finishing in a four-way tie for sixth place. As the No. 6 seed in the Big 12 tournament, they were defeated by West Virginia in the quarterfinals. They were one of the last four teams not selected for the NCAA tournament and as a result earned a no. 1 seed in the National Invitation Tournament, where they defeated Wagner in the first round before losing to Mississippi State in the second round.

The 2018–19 Baylor Bears basketball team represented Baylor University in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Scott Drew's 16th season at Baylor. The Bears competed in the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at the Ferrell Center in Waco, TX. They finished the season 20-14, 10-8 to finish in 4th place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament to Iowa State. They received a at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they defeated Syracuse in the first round before losing in the second round to Gonzaga.

The 2021 Baylor Bears baseball team represents Baylor University during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bears play their home games at Baylor Ballpark as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They are led by head coach Steve Rodriguez, in his 6th season at Baylor.
