The 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held from January 23 to 31 at the Stratford Rotary Complex. [1] The winners represented Canada at the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. [2]

The Junior Provincials were held January 6–10 at the Re/Max CC in St. John's (women's) and January 3–6 at the Corner Brook Curling Club in Corner Brook (men's). Junior Women's was a double round robin between the three teams qualified; Junior Men's was a single round robin. For the playoffs, the Junior Men's division had the top three teams advancing to the playoffs. The Junior Women's division had the top two teams advancing to the playoffs. If a team goes undefeated in the round robin, they must be beaten twice in the playoffs.

Jennifer Judith Jones OM is a Canadian curler. She was the Olympic champion in curling as skip of the Canadian team at the 2014 Sochi Games. Jones is the first female skip to go through the Games undefeated. The only male skip to achieve this was fellow Canadian Kevin Martin in 2010. Jones and her squad were the first Manitoba based curling team to win an Olympic gold medal. The 2008 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's men's curling championship, was held from March 8 to 16 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Skipped by Kevin Martin, Alberta defeated the defending champion, and reigning World Champion Glenn Howard and Team Ontario. The final pitted arguably the top 2 teams in the world, at least the top 2 teams in the World Curling Tour. The final, while close, failed to live up to expectations, and was widely considered boring, and was full of mistakes due to ice problems. Martin had a draw to the button in the tenth end to win the game.

The 2013 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held from January 31 to February 10 at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park and at the Oilsands Curling Club in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Alberta last hosted the junior championships in Calgary in 2011. The winners will represent Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships in Sochi, Russia.

The winners will represent Canada at the 2023 World Junior-B Curling Championships where they will need to finish in the top three to qualify for the 2024 World Junior Curling Championships in Lohja, Finland.
