The 2016 Fox Sports Cup was a summer football friendly tournament organized by the Dutch Eredivisie and Match IQ. [1] It was hosted by Vitesse at the GelreDome in Arnhem, from 21 to 23 July 2016. The three other European teams that took part were: Porto (Portugal), PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands), and West Bromwich Albion (England). [2] [3] [1] [4] It was sponsored by Fox Sports Netherlands. [2]

SBV Vitesse, widely known as Vitesse, and also as Vitesse Arnhem, is a Dutch professional football club located in the municipality of Arnhem, in the province of Gelderland. During the 2013–14 season Vitesse Arnhem participated in the Dutch Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup, and the UEFA Europa League.

The 2014–15 season was Feyenoord's 107th season of play, it marked its 59th season in the Eredivisie and its 93rd consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. It was first season with manager Fred Rutten. The club was busy during the summer transfer window, selling or releasing of 12 players and signing 13 new players. Feyenoord had a bad start of the season, dropping to 15th place in the league after losing three and drawing two of its first six league games. They played only the second round of the KNVB Cup; they were knocked out by Go Ahead Eagles. The club also lasted a single round in the Champions League; the third qualifying round consisted of two losses to Beşiktaş. They reached the Europa League group stage by beating FC Zorya Luhansk 4–3 at home after an away draw. The team improved after this early showing. A five-game winning streak catapulted them to third place in the Eredivisie by mid fall. They also reached the knockout phase of the Europa League by beating Standard Liège, HNK Rijeka and title holders Sevilla in the group phase. They went into the winter break placed third in the league.

The 2013–14 PSV Eindhoven season saw PSV competing in the Eredivisie, KNVB Cup, UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. PSV finished the season in 4th place in the Eredivisie, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League again, were knocked out of the KNVB Cup by Roda JC in the Third Round. In Europe PSV were knocked out of the Champions League at the Play-off Round by A.C. Milan, ending up in the Europa League group stages, from which they did not progress.

Donyell Malen Dutch footballer

During the 2016–17 season Vitesse participated in the Dutch Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. Vitesse would win the final of the KNVB Cup against AZ on 30 April 2017. It was the club's first major honour in their 120 plus year history.

During the 1995–96 Dutch football season, PSV Eindhoven competed in its 40th Eredivisie tournament.
