The 2016 United Football League Cup is the sixth edition of the United Football League Cup which started on February 6 and ended on April 9, 2016. There will be no guest teams with all competing teams also participating in the main UFL competition as per mandate by the Philippine Football Federation. All competing clubs also had to field teams for youth competitions to be organized by the UFL. [2]
The cup adopted a single round robin format with two groups followed by a knockout stage composing of the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final. [2] There is also a foreign player limit of five in the matchday squad of each clubs. [3]
Kaya are the defending champions. [4] Global won the 2016 UFL Cup defeating Ceres in the final. [5]
The draw for the group stage was held on January 20, 2016. [6] [7]

Football in the Philippines is administered by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), the governing body of football in the country.
Kaya Futbol Club–Iloilo, or simply Kaya–Iloilo, is a Philippine professional football club based in Iloilo City. They currently play in the Philippines Football League, the highest tier of football in the Philippines.
The United Football League, commonly known as the UFL, was an association football league, replaced by the Philippines Football League, based in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, governed by the Football Alliance (FA) in partnership with United Football Clubs Association (UFCA). In its last season in 2016, it was contested by 12 clubs and operated without a system of promotion and relegation with UFL Division 2, which was discontinued. Games were often scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. To avoid the country's rainy season, the league usually kicked off sometime between the months of January and February each year.
Loyola Football Club is a Philippine professional football club from Manila, Metro Manila. They play in the Philippines Football League (PFL), the highest tier of football in the Philippines. The club has won one UFL Cup and one PFF National Men's Club Championship.
Global Football Club was a professional football club that last played in the Philippines Football League (PFL), the top flight of Philippines' club football. The club has won four league titles, two UFL Cups, one UFL FA Cup, and one PFF National Men's Club Championship. They have participated in the AFC Cup three times.

The 2017 Philippines Football League was the inaugural season of the Philippines Football League (PFL), the professional football league of the Philippines. The league was officially launched on April 21, 2017, at Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig, while the first match of the season was played on May 6. The PFL replaced the Metro Manila-based United Football League (UFL), which served as the country's de facto top-level football league from 2009 to 2016. The league was made up of 8 clubs: 6 from the UFL and 2 expansion teams. Each club played the others four times, twice at their home ground and twice at that of their opponents', for 28 games. The teams that finished the season in the top four entered a playoff tournament to determine the league's champion.
The 2017 AFC Cup group stage was played from 20 February to 31 May 2017. A total of 34 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 11 places in the knockout stage of the 2017 AFC Cup.
The final of the inaugural season of the Copa Paulino Alcantara was contested by Davao Aguilas F.C. and Kaya F.C.–Iloilo on 27 October 2018 on a neutral ground at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
The Philippine Premier League (PPL) was a short-lived top-flight association football league in the Philippines sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). It was intended as a successor league to the Philippines Football League (PFL) which ran for two seasons. The first and only PPL season had a single match day on April 27, 2019 before it was folded, after the PFF withdrew its sanction of the league.
The men's football tournament at the 2019 SEA Games was held from November 25 to December 10, 2019 in the Philippines. All eleven Southeast Asian nations participated in the men's tournament. Matches were played in Manila, Biñan and Imus. Men's teams were restricted to under-22 players.
The women's football tournament at the 2019 SEA Games was the eleventh women's SEA Games football tournament. The tournament was held in Philippines from November 26 to December 8, 2019 where six teams participated. There were no age restrictions on women's teams.
The 2023 PFF Women's League season is the fourth season of the women's national league of the Philippines following the 2019–20 season.
The knockout stage of the 2023 Copa Paulino Alcantara, the domestic cup competition of the Philippines, began on 29 September with the quarterfinals and is scheduled to end on 9 December 2023 with the final to be played at Rizal Memorial Stadium. Eight teams competed in the knockout stage, which includes six teams who have played in the Philippines Football League along with the University of the Philippines and CF Manila, which have never played in the said league.
