The 2017 Atlantic Championship Series season was the fourth season of the revived Atlantic Championship. The series is organized by Formula Race Promotions. Sanctioning for the 2017 season has passed from SCCA Pro Racing to the United States Auto Club. [1] American Peter Portante won the championship by a comfortable 96 point margin over Atlantics veteran David Grant. Portante won nine of the fourteen races, David Grant won three and his brother Keith Grant won an additional two. The series raced on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course for the only time in its history.

Sports Car Club of America

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is a non-profit American automobile club and sanctioning body supporting road racing, rallying, and autocross in the United States. Formed in 1944, it runs many programs for both amateur and professional racers.

The Atlantic Championship is a formula race car series with races throughout North America. It has been called Champ Car Atlantics, Toyota Atlantics, or just Atlantics or Formula Atlantic, although the latter two terms risk confusion with the Sports Car Club of America's amateur Formula Atlantics division.

Formula Atlantic

Formula Atlantic is a specification of open-wheel racing car developed in the 1970s. It was used in professional racing through the IMSA Atlantic Championship until 2009 and is currently primarily used in amateur racing through Sports Car Club of America Formula Atlantic.

Claude Bourbonnais, is a former driver in the Toyota Atlantic, Indy Lights, and CART Championship Car series. He raced in the 1994 CART series with 5 starts. He also raced in the 1997 Indianapolis 500, which by then had become part of the Indy Racing League, completing 9 laps and finishing in 30th position.

The Australian Formula Ford Series is an Australian motor racing competition for drivers of Formula Ford racing cars, held annually since 1970. From 1970 until 1992, and again from 2014, it has been a national series. From 1993 until 2013, the series was CAMS sanctioned and called the Australian Formula Ford Championship.

Road to Indy Racing driver development program

The Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires is a racecar driver development program, providing a scholarship-funded path to reach the IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500. Sanctioned by IndyCar, the Road to Indy is owned and managed by Andersen Promotions. On December 9, 2010 it was announced that Mazda would become the title sponsor of the program and provide scholarships for series champions to advance to the next rung of the ladder with all three series running on Cooper Tires.

SCCA Pro Racing is the pro racing division of the Sports Car Club of America. SCCA Pro Racing was formed in 1963, the company is a fully owned subsidiary of SCCA.

The 2014 U.S. F2000 National Championship was a season of the U.S. F2000 National Championship, an open wheel auto racing series that is the first step in IndyCar's Road to Indy ladder. It was the fifth full season of the series since its revival in 2010. The National Class merged with the Championship class in 2014, resulting in just one class of competition.

Peter Portante

Peter Portante is a professional, American race car driver from Plainville, Connecticut.

The 2012 Atlantic Championship Series season was the first season of the revived Atlantic Championship. The series was organised by Formula Race Promotions under the sanctioning of SCCA Pro Racing. Hoosier was introduced as the series spec tire. David Grant racing for Polestar Racing Group won the championship. After this season the series went on probation to return in 2014.

The 2016 Indy Lights season was a season of open wheel motor racing. It was the 31st season of the Indy Lights series and the 15th sanctioned by IndyCar, acting as the primary support series for the IndyCar Series.

Aaron Justus is a former American racing driver. Justus won the USF2000 championship in the year 2000 and continued into the Atlantic Championship. Currently Justus is an entrepreneur with his own graphics design company.

2016 Mazda Road to Indy Shootout

The 2016 Mazda Road to Indy Shootout was the first edition of the Road to Indy Shootout. The event was held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on December 6 and 7. The winner received a $200,000 scholarship to compete in the 2017 U.S. F2000 National Championship.

Neil Verhagen is a racing driver from the United States of America. Verhagen is the youngest to win the SCCA National Championship Runoffs. Verhagen did so in 2016 in the Formula F class.

Global MX-5 Cup

The Global MX-5 Cup is the professional Spec Miata series sanctioned by IMSA in the United States. The pro Spec Miata series has its roots in 2003, but a unified national championship was launched in 2006.

The 2017 UIM F1 H2O World Championship was the 34th season of Formula 1 Powerboat racing. An initial seven race calendar was released at the end of January, with the championship scheduled to begin in Portimão, Portugal on 23 April and conclude in Sharjah, UAE on 15 December.

The 2018 F3 Americas Championship powered by Honda was the inaugural season for the all-new FIA Formula 3 regional series across North America, sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing, the professional racing division of the Sports Car Club of America. This was the third season in total for Formula 3 racing in the United States, which was last run in 2001 with the United States Formula Three Championship.

The 2019 Atlantic Championship Series season was the sixth season of the revived Atlantic Championship. The series was organized by Formula Race Promotions and sanctioning returned to SCCA Pro Racing after two years with USAC. Dario Cangialosi won the short four round, 8 race, championship by 82 points over Keith Grant. Cangialosi won three races to Grant's four. Flinn Lazier won a single race.

The 2018 Atlantic Championship Series season was the fifth season of the revived Atlantic Championship. The series was organised by Formula Race Promotions and sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. 17 year old Argentine driver Baltazar Leguizamon won the championship by 99 points over American Blake Mount. Leguizamon won ten of the fourteen races while Mount and Atlantics veteran Keith Grant won two races each.
