Tokoro is a small town, once was an independent administrative division located in Tokoro District, Abashiri Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. On March 5, 2006, the division, along with the towns of Rubeshibe and Tanno, was merged into a part of the expanded city of Kitami, and became Tokoro Town, Kitami City.

Anna Ohmiya is a Japanese curler from Sapporo, Hokkaido. She is the second on the FORTIUS curling team, which won the Japan Curling Championships in both 2015 and 2021. She also won the national championship in 2008, 2009 and 2010 as a member of Team Aomori. She competed for Japan at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, placing eighth. At the international level, she has represented Japan at four World Women's Curling Championship and six Pacific-Asia Curling Championships in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2021, winning the gold medal in 2021.
Satsuki Fujisawa is a Japanese curler from Kitami, Hokkaido. As a skip, she has won the Japanese national championship six times. Fujisawa skipped the bronze medal-winning Japanese team at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and the silver medal-winning team at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She is currently the skip of the Loco Solare curling team.

The 2021 Japanese Olympic curling trials were held from September 10 to 12 at the Wakkanai City Midori Sports Park in Wakkanai, Japan. The winning Satsuki Fujisawa team earned the right to represent Japan at the Olympic Qualification Event where they finished in second place, qualifying for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. There was only a women's event, as the Yuta Matsumura rink had already been chosen to represent Japan in the men's event.
The 2022 Japan Curling Championships were held from May 22 to 29 at the Tokoro Curling Club in Tokoro, Kitami, Hokkaido, Japan. Both the men's and women's events were played in a round robin format which qualified four teams for a page playoff.
