The wheelchair curling competition of the 2018 Winter Paralympics was held from 10 to 17 March 2018 at the Gangneung Gymnasium ^[1] in Gangneung, South Korea.^[2] For the first time, twelve mixed teams will compete at the Winter Paralympics.^[3]

Qualification

Qualification for the 2018 Paralympics was based on rankings in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 World Wheelchair Curling Championships.^[4] The qualification points are allotted based on the nations' final rankings at the World Championships. The points are distributed as shown in the table below. The eleven countries with the most points were to qualify for the Pyeongchang Games, while the twelfth slot was reserved for the host country, South Korea. Because the South Korean team placed within the top eleven point-scorers, the twelfth slot was given to the twelfth-ranked team, Sweden.

The wheelchair curling competition of the 2014 Winter Paralympics was held from 8 to 15 March 2014 at the Ice Cube Curling Center in Sochi, Russia. Ten mixed teams competed.

The curling competition of the 2018 Winter Olympics was held between 8 and 25 February 2018 at the Gangneung Curling Centre. This was the seventh time that curling is on the Olympic program. In each of the men's and women's competitions, ten nations competed. A third competition was added for the 2018 Olympics, mixed doubles, in which teams consist of one woman and one man. There were eight participating countries in the doubles competition.

Russian athletes competed as Neutral Paralympic Athletes at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, held between 9–18 March 2018. The Russian Paralympic Committee remains suspended from the Paralympic movement since 2016, due to the state-sponsored doping programme scandal, but the International Paralympic Committee allowed athletes deemed clean to participate in five sports. They participated under the Paralympic flag, and the Paralympic anthem was used during ceremonies for those who won gold medals.
