The 2017 Trail World Championships was the 7th edition of the global trail running competition, Trail World Championships, organised by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) and was held in Badia Prataglia (Italy), the 10 June 2017. [1]

Mountain running

International Association of Ultrarunners World governing body of ultra running

The International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) is the world governing body of ultra running, race events longer than the marathon distance of 42.2 km. IAU operates under the patronage of the World Athletics and follows World Athletics rules.

International Trail Running Association (ITRA) is the governing body for trail running. It was formed in 2013, emerging from the 1st International Trail Running Conference held in 2012. Camille Herron American ultramarathon runner

Camille Herron is an American ultramarathon runner. She is the first and only athlete to win all three of the International Association of Ultrarunners' 50K, 100K, and 24 Hour World Championships. She won the 2017 Comrades Marathon and holds several world best times at ultramarathon distances, along with the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon in a Superhero costume. She is known for running with her hair down, drinking beer, and eating tacos during ultramarathons. In November 2017, she broke Ann Trason's 100 mile road best by over an hour.

The 2019 Trail World Championships was the ninth edition of the global trail running competition, organised by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) and International Trail Running Association (ITRA). It was held on 8 June 2019 in Miranda do Corvo, Portugal. The event was hosted by the annual Ultra Trilhos dos Abutres and featured a course of 44 km in distance with uphills totalling 2120 m and downhills totalling 1970 m. The men's individual race was won by Great Britain's Jonathan Albon and the women's individual race was won by France's Blandine L'Hirondel. France won both the men's and women's team rankings.
