The 2017 German Athletics Championships was the 117th edition of the national championship in outdoor track and field for Germany. It was held on 8 and 9 July at the Steigerwaldstadion in Erfurt. It served as the selection meeting for Germany at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. [1] [2]

Contents

Three championship records were beaten during the competition: Johannes Vetter set the standard in the men's javelin with 89.35 m (293 ft 1+12 in), Konstanze Klosterhalfen set a women's 1500 metres best of 3:59.58 minutes, while Gesa Felicitas Krause won a distance double in the 5000 metres and 3000 metres steeplechase (championship record of 9:25.81 minutes). Julian Reus claimed a sprint double in the men's 100 metres and 200 metres. [3]

Konstanze "Koko" Klosterhalfen is a German middle- and long-distance runner. She is the 2019 World Championship bronze medallist and 2022 European champion in the 5000 metres, becoming the first German winner of the event at the European Athletics Championships. At the European Indoor Championships, Klosterhalfen won silver medals for the 1500 metres in 2017 and the 3000 metres in 2019 and 2023. She took four individual medals at the European Cross Country Championships. In February 2020, she set a European indoor record in the 5000 m with 14:30.79, the fourth fastest time ever.

The 1992 German Athletics Championships was the 92nd edition of the national championship in outdoor track and field for Germany. It was held on 19–21 June at the Olympiastadion in Munich. It served as the selection meeting for Germany at the 1992 Summer Olympics. For the first time, women's pole vault and triple jump were contested.

The 1991 German Athletics Championships was the 91st edition of the national championship in outdoor track and field for Germany. It was held on 26–28 July at the Niedersachsenstadion in Hannover. It served as the selection meeting for Germany at the 1991 World Championships in Athletics. It marked the resumption of an all-Germany national competition for athletes from East Germany and West Germany, following the fall of the Berlin Wall. The merged competition programme followed that of the 1990 West German Athletics Championships, with the only amendment being the inclusion of a women's team aspect to the mountain running championship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2020 German Athletics Championships</span> International athletics championship event

The 2020 German Athletics Championships was the 120th edition of the national championship in outdoor track and field for Germany. It was held on 8 and 9 August at the Eintracht-Stadion in Braunschweig. It was due to serve as the selection meeting for Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 European Athletics Championships, which were both postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The national athletics championship had been due to be held at the same time fifteen other national championship events as part of Die Finals 2020.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miriam Dattke</span> German runner

Miriam Dattke is a German long-distance runner. She won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2019 European Under-23 Championships. Dattke finished fourth in the women's marathon at the 2022 European Athletics Championships with same time as bronze medalist Nienke Brinkman.
