The 2019 German Athletics Championships was the 119th edition of the national championship in outdoor track and field for Germany. It was held on 3 and 4 August at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. It served as the selection meeting for Germany at the 2019 World Championships in Athletics. [1]
As usual, due to time or organizational reasons, various competitions were not held as part of the main event in Berlin. These include championships for the 50 km road race, ultra trail and 24-hour race, which were previously organised by the German Ultramarathon Association (DUV) and now organised by the German Athletics Federation (DLV). For the first time, the 4 × 400 m relays were contested separately. The annual national championships in Germany comprised the following competitions: [2] [3]

It was due to serve as the selection meeting for Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 European Athletics Championships, which were both postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The national athletics championship had been due to be held at the same time fifteen other national championship events as part of Die Finals 2020.

It was held on 18–19 February at the Arena Leipzig in Leipzig – the seventh time the venue had hosted the championships. Ticketing for the event was sold out. A total of 25 events, 13 for men and 12 for women, were contested plus six further events were held separately. It was to serve as preparation for the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships.

Miriam Dattke is a German long-distance runner. She won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2019 European Under-23 Championships. Dattke finished fourth in the women's marathon at the 2022 European Athletics Championships with same time as bronze medalist Nienke Brinkman.
