The 2017 Oceania Athletics Championships were held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva, Fiji between June 28 and July 1, 2017. [1] The event was held jointly with the Oceania under 18 and under 20 championships, including exhibition events for masters and for athletes with disabilities (parasports). [2]
A total of 22 teams participated in the senior championships. There were 21 nations with 1 regional team from Australia. The regional Australian team (RAT) competed separately and not as Australia. [3] [4]

A total of 47 events were originally scheduled for the championships, however, 3 events for women were cancelled due to no entries, while medals for the men's 5000m race walk were never distributed because of both entries disqualified. Resulting in a total of 43 medal events.

The Pacific Games, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Oceania. The inaugural Games took place in 1963 in Suva, Fiji, and most recently in 2023 in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The Games were called the South Pacific Games from 1963 to 2007. The Pacific Games Council (PGC) organises the Games and oversees the host city's preparations. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams. In each sporting event, gold medals are awarded for first place, silver medals are awarded for second place, and bronze medals are awarded for third place.
The Oceania Athletics Championships is an athletics event organized by the Oceania Athletics Association (OAA) for the World Athletics member associations of the Oceania region.
Tuvalu participates in the Pacific Games which is a multi-sport event with participation exclusively from countries in Oceania. Known as the South Pacific Games prior to 2009, the games are currently held every four years.
The 9th Oceania Swimming Championships were May 28-June 3, 2012 in Nouméa, New Caledonia. The Championships featured competition in Swimming, Open Water Swimming and Synchronized Swimming. Swimming was held at the CARD Guy Verlaguet pool in Dumbéa, Synchro was held at a pool in Ouen-Toro park, and the Open Water races were swum in the waters off Baie des Citrons (5K) and Anse-Vata (10K).
