Tereapii Tapoki (born 9 April 1984 in Mauke) is a female discus thrower from the Cook Islands. [1] At age twenty, Tapoki made her official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she competed in the women's discus throw. She placed fortieth in the qualifying rounds of the competition, with a throw of 48.12 metres.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Tapoki improved her performance by successfully throwing the discus into the field on her third and final attempt, at 48.35 metres. Tapoki, however, failed to advance into the discus throw final, as she placed thirty-seventh overall in the qualifying rounds. [2]

On behalf of the Cook Islands the Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee sent a team to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, marking its sixth consecutive appearance at the Olympics since its debut in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. The country sent four athletes to the Games across three sports and four distinct events. No athlete of the Cook Islander delegation progressed past the first rounds in their events and did not go on to win medals. Pera was the nation's flag bearer at the ceremonies.

The British Virgin Islands took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics which were held in Beijing, China from 8 to 24 August 2008. The dependency's participation at Beijing marked its seventh consecutive appearance in the summer Olympics since its debut in 1984, and its eighth Olympic appearance ever. The British Virgin Islander delegation included two athletes in 2008 participating in two distinct events in one sport: discus thrower Eric Matthias and sprinter Tahesia Harrigan. Of the athletes, Harrigan was the flagbearer and the first female Olympian to participate on behalf of the British Virgin Islands in its entire history. Overall, Harrigan advanced to quarterfinals in her event, although neither athlete medaled.

Sultana Frizell is a Canadian track and field athlete competing in the hammer throw. Frizell currently trains under the guidance of Derek Evely in Kamloops, British Columbia. She competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Frizell is the former Commonwealth Games champion in the hammer throw and Commonwealth Games record holder for the event as well.

Brittany Borman is an American track and field athlete who competes primarily in the discus and the javelin throw. She is a four-time NCAA Track and Field Champion, winning the javelin in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and the discus in 2010. Roslinda Samsu is a Malaysian pole vaulter. She is a four-time defending champion at the Southeast Asian Games, and a silver medalist at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. She won the bronze medal at the 2005 Asian Athletics Championships in Incheon, South Korea, but nearly missed out of the podium at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. She was also able to clear her personal best of 4.20 metres to capture the gold medal at the 2007 Asian Athletics Championships in Amman, Jordan.

Carline Muir is a Canadian sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. She is also a three-time junior national champion, a two-time silver medalist at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.

Adrienne Power is a Canadian sprinter, who specialized in the 200 metres. She won two bronze medals for both the 200 metres and 4×400-metre relay at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.

Hanna Mazgunova is a Belarusian discus thrower. Mazgunova represented Belarus at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's discus throw, along with her compatriots Ellina Zvereva and Iryna Yatchenko. She performed the best throw of 56.77 metres in her third attempt, despite having received two fouls throughout the entire qualifying round. Mazgunova, however, failed to advance into the final, as she placed twenty-ninth out of thirty-eight athletes in the overall rankings.

Dorothea Kalpakidou is a female Greek discus thrower. Kalpakidou represented Greece at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's discus throw. She placed thirty-fifth in the qualifying rounds with a throw of 53.00 metres, failing to advance into the final.

Alessandra Nobre Resende is a Brazilian javelin thrower. She is a two-time Ibero-American and a four-time South American champion for her category. Resende, however, narrowly missed out of the medal podium, when she placed fifth in the final at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, with a best throw of 57.95 metres.

Małgorzata Zadura is a retired Polish hammer thrower. Zadura represented Poland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's hammer throw, along with her compatriots Anita Włodarczyk and Kamila Skolimowska. She performed the best throw of 64.13 metres on her second attempt, finishing thirty-eighth overall in the qualifying rounds.

Patsy Serafina Akeli is a Samoan javelin thrower. She is a two-time Olympian, a 2008 national javelin throw champion, and a member of QEII Track Club in Australia. She set both a national record and a personal best throw of 54.78 metres, by winning her event at the New Zealand Athletics Championships in Wellington, New Zealand.

Gim Gyeong-ae is a South Korean javelin thrower. She won a silver medal for the same category at the 2007 Asian Athletics Championships in Amman, Jordan, achieving her best throw at 53.01 metres.

Anna Fitídou is a Cypriot pole vaulter. She set both a national record and a personal best height of 4.30 metres at the second meeting of the IAAF Grand Prix in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Lois Jackman-Lax is discus thrower from Australia who also represented Nauru.
