Mowen Boino (born 16 December 1979) is a Papua New Guinean track and field athlete, who specialized in 400 metres and in 400 metres hurdles. [1] He is a three-time Olympian and four-time national record holder for the 400 m hurdles. He also achieved his personal best time of 50.37 seconds at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. [2]
Boino first competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he set a national record for Papua New Guinea in the 400 m hurdles, with a possible fastest time of 51.38 seconds. He continued to improve his athletic performance at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, when he finished last in the fourth heat of the men's 400 m hurdles, by forty-one hundredths of a second ahead of his national record set from Sydney, with a time of 50.97 seconds.
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Boino competed again for the men's 400 m hurdles. He ran in the fourth heat, against seven other athletes, including defending champion Félix Sánchez of the Dominican Republic. Boino finished the race in sixth place by thirty-seven hundredths of a second (0.37) behind Sánchez, with a seasonal best time of 51.47 seconds. [3]

The 400 metres hurdles is a track and field hurdling event. The event has been on the Olympic athletics programme since 1900 for men and since 1984 for women.
The men's 400 metres hurdles at the 2004 Summer Olympics as part of the athletics program were held at the Athens Olympic Stadium from August 23 to 26. There were 35 competitors from 24 nations. The event was won by Félix Sánchez of the Dominican Republic, the nation's first medal in the men's 400 metres hurdles. Silver went to Danny McFarlane of Jamaica, returning to the podium in the event for the first time since 1992. Naman Keïta's bronze was France's first medal in the event in over 100 years; the last Frenchman to medal in the long hurdles was Henri Tauzin in 1900. The United States' five-Games gold medal streak ended; for only the second time in the history of the event, Americans competed but won no medals.
Belize sent a delegation to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from 13 to 29 August 2004. This was the Central American country's ninth appearance at a Summer Olympic Games. The delegation consisted of two track and field athletes: Michael Aguilar and Emma Wade; neither advanced beyond the first round of their events.
Angelo F. Taylor is an American track and field athlete, winner of 400-meter hurdles at the 2000 and 2008 Summer Olympics. His personal record for the hurdles event is 47.25 seconds. His time puts him in a tie with Félix Sánchez for the #14 performer of all time. Sánchez also won two Olympic gold medals, in 2004 between Taylor's two golds and 2012, immediately following. Taylor also has a 400-meter dash best of 44.05 seconds, ranking him as the #25 performer of all time, superior to any other athlete who has made a serious effort in the 400 metres hurdles. He won the bronze medal in the 400 m at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics.

The event was won by Félix Sánchez of the Dominican Republic, the second victory in the men's long hurdles for both the man and the nation. Sánchez was the eighth man to win multiple medals in the event and fourth to win two golds. Michael Tinsley of the United States earned silver. Javier Culson's bronze was Puerto Rico's first medal in the event.
The men's 400 metres hurdles was an event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. The competition was held from July 23, 1976, to July 25, 1976. There were 22 competitors from 16 nations. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. American Edwin Moses won the final in a world record and Olympic record time of 47.64 seconds. His time was initially noted as one hundredth slower, but this was rounded up after an analysis of the photo finish. It was the United States' first victory in the event since 1964 and 12th overall. Fellow American Michael Shine took silver. Yevgeniy Gavrilenko earned the Soviet Union's first medal in the event since 1952 with his bronze. Great Britain's three-Games podium streak in the event ended.
Belize competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which were held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The country's participation in London was its eleventh appearance in the Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1968 Summer Olympics. The delegation included two short-distance runners and one judoka: Kenneth Medwood, Kaina Martinez and Eddermys Sanchez. Medwood qualified by recording a time that met qualification standards while the latter two entered through wildcard places. Medwood was selected as the flag bearer for both the opening and closing ceremonies. Medwood reached the semifinals of the men's 400 metres hurdles before he was eliminated from competition while Martinez did not progress farther than the quarterfinal stage of the women's 100 metres. Sanchez was defeated by his opponent Miklós Ungvári of Hungary in a 19-second match in the Round of 32 of the men's half-lightweight judo competition.
Warren Weir is a retired Jamaican sprinter, who specialized in the 200 metres. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2012 London Olympics, helping Jamaica sweep the medals. In 2013 at the Moscow World Championships, Warren Weir won the silver medal equalling his personal best. He finished behind Usain Bolt who set a World Leading time. His personal best is 19.79 seconds set at the National Stadium in his home country Kingston, Jamaica. He has since equalled his personal best in Moscow, in the World Championship final. He trained with the Glen Mills-coached Racers Track Club, alongside Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.
Abdul Rashid is a Pakistani sprint hurdler. Rashid represented Pakistan at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's 110 m hurdles. He ran in the third heat against seven other athletes, including Ronald Forbes of the Cayman Islands and three-time Olympian Dudley Dorival of Haiti. He finished the race only in last place by nearly two seconds behind Dorival, with a time of 14:52, twenty-eight hundredths of a second slower than his personal best of 14:24. Rashid, however, failed to advance into the quarterfinal round, as he placed fortieth overall, based on his time and performance in the preliminary heats. Mahau Camargo Suguimati is a Brazilian track hurdler of Japanese ancestry. Since the age of eight, Suguimati had lived and studied for sixteen years in Niiza, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Suguimati also attended schools around the prefecture, where he discovered his natural ability and talent of running and hurdling, under his personal coach and trainer Atsushi Hishinuma. He made his international debut, and represented his birth nation Brazil at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he finished seventh in the final of the 400 m hurdles, with his personal best time of 49.63 seconds.
Carline Muir is a Canadian sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. She won the bronze medal for the 400 metres, and ultimately, led her national team to claim the sprint relay title at the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia. She is also a three-time junior national champion, a two-time silver medalist at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.
Kia Davis is a Liberian-American sprinter. She is a multiple-time national record holder in the sprint and hurdles, a three-time USA Track & Field national indoor finalist for the 60 m hurdles, and holds a dual citizenship for Liberia and the United States in order to compete internationally for her categories. She also won the silver medal, as a member of the U.S. team, in the women's 4 × 400 m relay at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Moscow, Russia.
Félix Adolfo Martínez Cuevas is a Puerto Rican sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. He set both a national record and a personal best time of 45.92 seconds by finishing third for the 400 metres at the 2007 Ponce Grand Prix in Ponce.
Rudolf Götz is a Czech sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. He set a personal best time of 45.78 seconds at the 2008 Ostrava Golden Spike in Ostrava, earning him a spot on the Czech track and field team for the Olympics. Ned Justeen Azemia is a Seychellois hurdler who specialises in the 400 metres hurdles. He is the current Seychellois record holder in the event. Azemia competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in the 400 metres hurdles. He has also competed in two World Junior Championships, an African athletics championships and an African Youth Games. Azemia has also raced over the flat 400 metres distance.
