Saina Nehwal Indian badminton player

Saina Nehwal is an Indian professional badminton player. A former world no. 1, she has won over 24 international titles, which includes eleven Superseries titles. Although she reached the world's 2nd in the 2009, it was only in 2015 that she was able to attain the world no. 1 ranking, thereby becoming the only female player from India and overall the second Indian player – after Prakash Padukone – to achieve this feat. She has represented India three times in the Olympics, winning a bronze medal in her second appearance.

P. V. Sindhu Indian badminton player

2012 Thomas & Uber Cup

The 2012 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 27th tournament of the Thomas Cup and 24th international badminton tournament of the Uber Cup. It was held from May 20–27, 2012 at the Wuhan Sports Center Stadium in Wuhan, China.

The BWF World Ranking is the official ranking of the Badminton World Federation for badminton players who participate in tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation. It is used to determine the qualification for the World Championships and Summer Olympic Games, as well as BWF World Tour tournaments. Seedings of draws at all BWF-sanctioned tournaments are conducted using the BWF World Ranking. Players under 19 years of age are eligible to rank in the BWF World Junior Ranking, which were introduced in January 2011. The following lists are the rankings:

Akane Yamaguchi Japanese badminton player (born 1997)

Akane Yamaguchi is a Japanese badminton player who specializes in singles play. She won the women's singles titles at the World Junior Championships in 2013 and 2014, the Asian Junior Championships in 2014, and the Asian Championships in 2019. She was a part of the winning Japanese team at the Asian Junior Championships in 2012, the Asia Mixed Team Championships in 2017, the Asia Women's Team Championships in 2018 and 2020, and at the Uber Cup in 2018. Yamaguchi was named the Most Promising Player of the Year by the Badminton World Federation in 2013 and 2014 and the Honorary Citizen Award by the mayor of Katsuyama in 2018.

2014 Thomas & Uber Cup

The 2014 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 28th tournament of the Thomas Cup and 25th tournament of the Uber Cup, the badminton team championships for men and women respectively. It was held on 18–25 May 2014 at the Siri Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi, India. This is the first time India hosted the two cups.

2017 Sudirman Cup

The 2017 Sudirman Cup was the 15th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was hosted by Gold Coast, Australia, between 21 and 28 May 2017. It will be the first time this event is hosted outside Asia and Europe since its establishment in 1989.

2019 Sudirman Cup 2019 world mixed team badminton championships

The 2019 Sudirman Cup was the 16th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was played in Nanning, China, between 19 and 26 May 2019. Korea is the defending champion.

2020 Thomas & Uber Cup Biennial international badminton championship

The 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 31st edition of the Thomas Cup and the 28th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament were played at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the first time that Denmark hosted the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup tournament and the first time this event was held in Europe since England 1982. It was due to be played on 15–23 August 2020, but on 29 April 2020 it was postponed to the 3–11 October due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 15 September 2020 it was again postponed and on 21 December 2020 it was announced that it was postponed to 9–17 October 2021.
