Saurabh Sharma (born 30 December 1997) is an Indian badminton player. [1] [2] He has represented India in BWF International tournaments, having won multiple mixed doubles and men's doubles tournaments. He also became the U-19 Mixed doubles champion in the junior nationals.

Background

Sharma spent the early years of his life in Sonipat in Haryana. He started playing badminton at the age of eight and in 2009 he joined the Gopichand Badminton Academy for training. [3] [4] [5]

Career

In 2016, Sharma and Parikh won the Nepal International after defeating Venkat Gaurav Prasad and Juhi Dewangan in the final.

In 2017, Sharma and Parikh were runners-up in the Kharkiv International and South Africa International. In 2018, the pair reached the final of the Brazil International but were defeated by Russian pair of Evgenij Dremin of Evgenia Dimova. [6] [7]

Sharma and Parikh won the Kharkiv title in 2018 after they defeated the Polish pair of Paweł Śmiłowski of Magdalena Świerczyńska. [8] [9] [10]

In the Men's doubles category he won the South Africa International in 2017, Jamaica International in 2018 and the Nepal International in 2019. [11] [12] [13]

Goh V Shem is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He was partnered with Tan Wee Kiong after their outstanding performance at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Goh and Tan won the gold medal for the men's doubles event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as all their matches in the mixed team event, helping Malaysia retain the gold medal for the third consecutive time. They also won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games and the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, thus making them the second ever Malaysian men's doubles pair to win the silver medal at the Olympic Games 20 years after the feat was achieved by Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock in 1996 Atlanta. Gabriela Stoeva is a Bulgarian badminton player specializing in doubles. Her current partner is her younger sister, Stefani Stoeva. The pair is the three-time European Champion and two-time European Games gold medalist as well. They competed at the 2016, 2020 and the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Kim Astrup Sørensen is a Danish badminton player. He was the men's doubles gold medalists at the 2018 European Championships and the 2023 European Games with his partner Anders Skaarup Rasmussen. He also won the bronze medal at the World Championships in 2021 and later a silver medal in 2023. Astrup joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China, where he and his teammates beating Indonesia 3–2 in the final. Nico Mikael Ruponen is a Swedish badminton player. In 2012, he won the Kharkiv International in the mixed doubles event partnered with Amanda Högström. In 2016, he and Richard Eidestedt had to battle through the qualification round at the Orleans International tournament before reach the finals, finally they won the men's doubles title after beat Hardianto and Haryanto of Indonesia. He also became the runner-up at the 2016 Canada Open Grand Prix tournament in the mixed doubles event with Högström.

Terry Hee Yong KaiOLY is a Singaporean badminton player. In mixed doubles with Jessica Tan, Hee won his first World Tour title at the 2022 India Open. Hee together with Jessica Tan also won the gold medal in the mixed doubles event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, a first for Singapore in that discipline at the Games. Hee and his wife, Jessica Tan, were nominated for the Straits Times Singaporean of the Year Award 2022. Terry Hee and Jessica Tan are Singapore's first local-born mixed doubles duo to qualify for the Olympics, and made their debut at the Paris Olympics 2024.
