The 2019 Copa do Brasil first stage was the first stage of the 2019 Copa do Brasil football competition. It was played from 5 February to 3 April 2019. [1] A total of 80 teams competed in the first stage to decide 40 places in the second stage of the 2019 Copa do Brasil. [2]
The draw for the first and second stage was held on 13 December 2018, 20:00 at CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. [3] Teams were seeded by their CBF ranking (shown in parentheses). The 80 qualified teams were divided in eight groups (A-H) with 10 teams each. The matches were drawn from the respective confronts: A vs. E; B vs. F; C vs. G; D vs. H. The lower ranked teams hosted the first stage match.
In the first stage, each tie was played on a single match basis. The lower CBF ranked team hosted the match. If tied, the higher CBF ranked team would advance to second stage. [2]

The 2016 Copa do Brasil Third Round was played from 6 July to 28 July 2016 deciding the 10 teams that advanced to the knockout rounds. Different than the first two rounds, in this round the away team that wins the first match by 2 or more goals do not progress straight to the next round avoiding the second leg. The order of the matches was determined by a random draw.
The knockout stages of the 2016 Copa do Brasil was played from August 24 to November 26, 2014. A total of 16 teams competed in the knockout stages.
The 2017 Copa do Brasil Second Round was played from 22 February to 8 March 2017, to decide the 20 teams advancing to the Third Round. In this year, this round was decided in a single match. In case of tie, the qualified team was determined by penalty shoot-out.
The 2017 Copa do Brasil Third Round was played from 8 March to 5 April 2017, to decide the 10 teams advancing to the Fourth Round. In this year, each tie was played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. If tied on aggregate, the away goals rule would be used. If still tied, extra time would not be played, and the penalty shoot-out would be used to determine the winner. Hosting was determined by a draw.
